An awesome Appleseed was had at the Memphis Sport Shooting Assoc! The club always supports us and we really appreciate it. Twenty two preregs and one walk on gathered for the festivities despite the threat of bad weather on Saturday which never materialized. We had a mix of new shooters and returning Riflemen. It was a great group with a lot of enthusiasm and energy. We got down to business and it wasn't long before we had some good groups. The shooters really soaked up the instruction and their improvement contributed to their high spirits. We ended up with 2 new Riflemen and 4 requals including a Distinguished score! There was a lot of good shooting with a lot of Sharpshooter scores including a 205 and 209 from one shooter who had never fired a firearm of any kind until the event. Several of the new shooters would have patched except for a jam on stage 2 or 3. The shooters also were very engaged with the history which was gratifying.

The range is ready

The shooters put the instruction into practice

Mike turns in the first Rifleman score of the day

Gary earns his patch at his first event. Nice shooting!

Steve patches with a borrowed rifle

Alex patches at his first event on the first AQT of his life

John stopped by and shot a Rifleman score with a rifle his Dad gave him when he was 14

Brian not only patches but earns his Distinguished!

The zombie stage is always a big hit

A big thank you to the Mid South Riflemen who helped with set up and tear down. This is a huge thing and I really appreciate it

An outstanding group of Instructors. Great job!

This was an amazing event to be a part of. The COF was adaptable to the weather, the crowd, and the wide range of shooter experience yet still fulfilled all the necessary requirements. The accomplishments of the students were exceeded only by the fun they all had. The instructors had a great time and meshed as a well oiled team.
This is an amazing range and I look forward to returning.

This was a great Appleseed weekend. The weather was surprisingly pleasant for Memphis in May. It was very rewarding to see the shooters learn, implement and improve. There were lots of smiles and laughter. The history was well told.  I enjoy working with this group of instructors. They are knowledgeable, fun, and encouraging.

This was a great event.  Lots of new shooters both young and old.   The instruction was incredible.  Some shooters who had never shot a rifle before became proficient and will be Rifleman soon.

In addition to high quality marksmanship instruction, the staff regaled the participants with the history of how, during one Spring in April 1775, determined men and women ignited a revolution that created the greatest nation on the face of Earth.

I do have to mention that guy.  One knucklehead broke his rifle on the first string of fire.  Three instructors loaned him rifles over the weekend which he made malfunction on a consistent base.  Other than that guy, all the participants were enthusiastic and squared away.
