Piqua, OH Pistol Clinic November 5-6, 2022 AAR

What a great pistol clinic we had at the Piqua Fish and Game. There were fourteen eager shooters signed in and ready to go by 8:30, all came well prepared and with great attitudes. The weather was unseasonably warm, but Saturday's gusty winds would blow away anything not well anchored.

We had one cleared Red Coat target to begin the day, congratulations to Jerry F. Most shooters arrived with skills good enough to get four rounds into the 44 yard simulated target, and over half of the shooters placed all four rounds into the 60 yard target, but numbers fell on the smaller targets.

The morning flowed smoothly with layers of instruction and drills; the shooters were all very safety conscious and showed a great grasp for the concepts being taught. Mac presented the First Strike during lunch, and by early afternoon we moved into a practice Pistol Qualification Test (PQT).   We were able to score four PQT's Saturday and added five new Pistoleer™s to our list. A score of 210 or higher, out of a possible 250 points, is required to earn the patch. Jerry F. shot a 215, and then reconfirmed with a 220, Adam B. scored 211, Jeff C. scored 214, Linda F. received a "baptism by waters from the North Bridge" for hitting the magic number of 210, and Tina H. earned her patch with a 213.  Two previous Pistoleer™s reconfirmed Saturday; Jeff M. scored 213 and 215, and Brian H. a 219 and 226. Mac gave a great presentation of the third Strike, before we shot the evening Red Coat target.

Sadly, we had six shooters who could only attend on Saturday, so Sunday's line was reduced in number, but there was no reduction in enthusiasm! We spent a good portion of the morning working on drills and coaching shooters to refine the skills taught the day before. It must have worked because the entire line left that afternoon with a Pistoleer™'s patch! 

Jeremy B. scored a 217, Jason J. shot a 211 then steadily improved by adding scores of 220 and 225, Ben W. scored 210 and received his baptism, then reconfirmed with 213, and finally R.J. received his patch with a 212 on the second to last PQT of the day. In total we added the names of nine new Pistoleer™s to our list. Two shooters cleared the Sunday afternoon Red Coat, congratulations to Jeremy B. and Jeff M.
