South Huntsville, AL AAR - July 23-24 2022

Ten Patriots braved July Alabama weather at Hobbs Island Shooting Range (HISR) in South Huntsville.

We met early Saturday morning and got started with some safety and Google shared the First Strike of the Match. Then we jumped into the Hits Count target and lots of drills and other lessons. Just before lunch, we shot our first square and the groups were looking excellent!

At lunch, we sheltered in the air conditioned clubhouse and shared the Second Strike. After a well-deserved rest, we got back out into the heat. We continued for another couple of hours, but the sun and humidity were hitting like a hammer. We wrapped up early and everyone was invited to join the instructors at our traditional spot - Hobbs Island Pit Stop for some of Danny's barbeque!

Sunday morning came all too soon and there was no respite from the weather. We got started with a review of material from Saturday and continued various drills and exercises. At lunch, we heard more history in the clubhouse... but lunch was interrupted by a flash downpour that soaked gear and cars with open windows!

After lunch, we dried off the rifles and got back to marksmanship and shooting an AQT. I'm proud of the progress everyone made, especially considering the weather.
