This was the inaugural event at the Oak Harbor Conservation Club range outside of Oak Harbor, Ohio. A small but dedicated group of individuals came to help us celebrate this event. Of the 5 shooters who showed up for this event, all were new "Seedlings".

We started Saturday morning with the normal welcome, introductions and moved on to the safety briefing. Rifles were brought to the line and the Saturday morning Red Coat was shot.  Results showed we had a great bunch of shooters. We had 5 of 5 shooters good at 100, 4 at 200, 1 at 300, 2 at 400, and 2 joined Daniel Morgan. No one cleared the target.

We moved on to the steady hold factors in prone, followed by the six steps and NPOA instructions.  Related drills were shot in between the points of instruction and from the first groups shot the squares target, it was evident we had a very special group of potential riflemen and riflewomen.  After the the IMC presentation on how to adjust sights we broke for lunch and the First Strike.
.
After lunch we shot confirming groups and moved on to the steady hold factors in seated which were followed by related drills. The Second Strike was presented by Meadow at the afternoon break.

This was followed by presentation of the standing steady hold factors with a practice AQT and the afternoon Red Coat. The Saturday afternoon Red Coat had results which showed improvement over the morning effort.  Of the 6 shooters, we had 6 at 100, 6 at 200, 3 at 300, 4 at 400 and 1 joined Daniel Morgan. We had 1 person clear the target - Congratulations to Richard on earning his Ohio patch.

This was followed by the Third Strike and the Saturday call to Action.

Sunday started overcast and cooler, with chances of rain during the day. We started the day with a review of the safety rules and the POI's from Saturday by Chico. Rifles were brought to the line and the Sunday morning Red Coat was shot.  It was very encouraging.  Usually there is a little drop on Sunday morning but this group knew very well what they were about. We had 7 of 7 at 100, 4 at 200, 6 at 300, 3 at 400, 3 joining Daniel Morgan's crew and 2 cleared Redcoats. Congratulations to Mike and John.

We confirmed zero's from the day before and performed some NPOA drills, followed by 2 AQT's for score and then broke for lunch with BTO presenting Hezekiah Wyman.

Jenna scored an absolutely outstanding score on her first AQT with a 239, just missing the distinguished patch by one point! She also backed the score up with other scores of 227, and 230. ^:)^

Not to be out done, Mike eared his rifleman's patch with a solid score of 233 and backed his skills by also shooting a 236 and a 234.  O0

Since this was the inaugural event at this range, an Appleseed flag was presented to the club president as a gesture of appreciation for allowing Project Appleseed to host an event at this facility.

We continued with 3 more AQT's with the shoot boss performing Sam Whittmore and Elizabeth Zane in between QAT's to give the shooters a chance to hydrate and rest before continuing the grind. A fun shoot with a dueling tree thrown in to break up the grind. Congratulations to team Warren!  ^:)^

During the afternoon grind we crowned 3 more riflemen. John with a 211, Richard with scores of 234 and 233, and Matt with scores of 216 and 225.  O0

The weather was closing in so ended the day a little early with the Sunday afternoon Redcoat.  We had 7 of 7 at 100, 6 at 200, 6 at 300, 5 at 400, and 6 joined Daniel Morgan. We had 3 shooters clear the target, 2 repeats and 1 new member. Congratulations to Jim for getting his Ohio patch.

Of the 7 shooters on the line on Sunday, we crowned 5 new riflemen!
Congrats to all our new riflemen and riflewomen. I'm looking forward to seeing you at future events.

A special shout out to our shooter Jim who persisted through the weekend with a double digit number of stitches in his mouth. Despite the pain and inability to get a good cheeckweld, he came oh so close to the 210 but was able to push through and clear the final redcoat.

After the event was over, participants were offered the chance to shoot my Brown Bess musket.

I want to thank the Oak Harbor Conservation Club for allowing Appleseed access to their fabulous facility. Without clubs like these, we have no program. Also, I would like to thank my instructors Meadow, Chico and BTO.

lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader."
