Appleseeders from four states gathered together this past weekend at Mountain Valley Sportsman's Association in Hot Springs, AR.  The weather was rather cool with light rain on Saturday morning.  However, the rain soon stopped and the sun came out which made a good weekend even better!  Our Texas friends (James, Daniel, Brian, John, Simon, Bubba, Michael, Jerrod and Chris) made the drive up with, as usual, several new faces to be introduced to Appleseed.  We also enjoyed the company of Bill Winkle & Rascal21.  Their help was invaluable - Thank you both!  And we were also blessed with a couple of youngsters, Elizabeth & Benjamin.  We couldn't have asked for any better students than those two.  They worked hard all weekend and shot very respectable scores.  I sincerely hope to see them back at future events.  Dad, you should be (and I know you are) proud of them.  Your efforts in teaching them firearm handling & safety was obvious as there were no safety issues the entire weekend.  Jerred earned the first Rifleman patch of the weekend right out of the gate on Saturday and shot another qualifying score again on Sunday.  Simon shot two back to back Rifleman scores on Sunday.  Bubba, Michael, John & Brian all posted scores that were almost there.  And seven instructors requalified!  Ken, I always appreciate your perseverance, your enthusiasm and your dedication to Appleseed.  You are a fantastic ambassador for the program and I look forward to having you someday join the ranks as an instructor (hopefully soon!). Ted, thanks for coming out and helping on Sunday. I really appreciate it!  And I'd like to offer a huge shout out to all the instructors this weekend.  You all did an excellent job!  Special thanks to Sticks for his support & advice - thank you Brother! (and great to see Edith again!) Also, thanks to the officers and board of MVSA who consistently support Appleseed.

It turned to be a beautiful weekend! The youngsters were so enthusiastic. That alone, made the weekend worthwhile. They done great!
It was nice to see Rascal21 and Bill Winkle again as well as John and The Texas Crew.
A special Thanks to bright1 for running a smooth and awesome event.

Thanks for the compliments for Benjamin and Elizabeth.  The instructors (comfort, Stacy, Bill, swiften, sticks, Kyle, and Eric) were awesome. It was like they had private instructors all weekend. I would have tried to shoot too if I knew the amount of supervision they would have (also the level of supervision. The instructors treated Benjamin and Elizabeth like they were their own). I do have to admit that my thumb is still sore from loading their mags! These kids are going to shoot me into the poor house. Two "full" days and 1100 rounds of CCI standard velocity later! Their smiles were worth every round!
The weekend is full of memories for us and we have come away with a renewed passion for our country. We are looking forward to our next Appleseed and seeing our new family. Thank you all and to you Randy!

Sorry so late chiming in. What a great weekend hanging with friends, family and new friends. As was previously mentioned, the youngsters are what made it special for me. Thanks to Lurch for raising your kids right. They were a joy to work with and I hope to see them again. They are our future. Bright1 kept things rolling and we had a great and productive event.
And of course thanks to all of the instructors that allowed it to be a smooth weekend

I think Simon came to set the bar for the other Riflemen in his family. Rumors have it that his sister and mom will be attending an event to try and make it a complete Rifleman family

We can't forget that Simon has now set the bar for the rest of his family by shooting 3 qualifying scores. Rumor has the that Jonelle and Mary Beth (mom and sister) will be attending an event in order to make it a complete Rifleman family
