Looking to add optics to my Standard M1 Garand. Can I get some insight/advice from those that have experience or knowledge on this topic as to what to look for and possibly some recommendations on which scope mount works best?
Thanks in advance!

You looking for original type (M1D) scope and mount - or are you looking for a modern type scope and mount ?

Taking all suggestions at this point and will make the best decision I can.

The CMP can machine and mount the original style scope mount, then install an original style scope. They can also install an original style laced leather cheek pad.

An advantage to doing it this way is that it enables you to shoot in Vintage Sniper Rifle matches. Some also use this same setup for hunting.

I have had mine out to 500 yards so far, and am working on 600. I plan on using mine for a Known Distance shoot this summer as well as some 300-yard local matches.

If you find yourself anywhere near northern Ohio, you're welcome to put a few shots down range with mine to see if you like it.

ShuffsParkerizing Can add on the M1D block he also does extensive work to the M1. Shuffs will even convert an M1 to accept M-14 magazine's and rebarrel it for 308. Shuffs can convert the M1 to a Mini-G version.
