Does anyone make dyed slings?
« on: December 13, 2021, 12:22:27 AM »
Does anyone make dyed slings?  I'd like to purchase a handful of dyed slings (pink, yellow, etc) to serve as loaner slings.  Many years ago, there were a few folks making dyed slings but they are no longer active and I don't have a way to contact them anymore.

Just order white parade slings. I started using them 5 years ago and have only had 1 walk singe then.

The Glendale Parade Stpre is where I get mine.

Yea that's my backup option and try to DIY it myself, but I'd rather support a fellow Appleseeder's business if they're doing it.  If no one does it now and I'm successful dying white slings to other colors, maybe someone else here would like some dyed slings?  ;)

One of my NM guys,  Mahamotorworks, does that, too, for his own loaner gear.  Stoneknives, is right,  they tend not to grow legs.

I was going to suggest bleaching one and then dying it.

Get a white parade sling, they cost a little more than a black or green. I just used Rit dye. I would go darker then you want it to end up being. It will wash out/fade a bit when you wash it. I need to do another for my wife's AR. Did an orange for the demo rifle so it easier to see.

So what is Project Appleseed Business?  What would the Ghost of Project Appleseed say to us?

Business!' cried the Ghost of Project Appleseed, wringing its hands again.  “Liberty was my business; Heritage, History, Freedom, and Pursuit of Happiness, were, all, my business. The deals of Marksmanship were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!”
-Adapted from Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol.

I did just that from Glendale Parade store, guess I'll try my hands at dying white slings into bubble gum pink.  No one refuses my loaner bubble gum pink sling and I always get it back.  ;D

This topic comes up occasionally.  Easiest thread I can find is here .

I have another one buried in my files at home; will post that one shortly (or you can search for it, too).

Found that other link here.

"5 minutes for this stage - that's like a week in people years!"

"Responsibility is a unique concept... You may share it with others, but your portion is not diminished. You may delegate it, but it is still with you... If responsibility is rightfully yours, no evasion, or ignorance or passing the blame can shift the burden to someone else. Unless you can point your finger at the man who is responsible when something goes wrong, then you have never had anyone really responsible.”
― Hyman G. Rickover
