Good people, good weather, great shoot.

By the time we had completed the paperwork, introductions, framing and the safety briefing there were 8 shooters who were ready to embark on the weekend Appleseed journey.  With a range of ages from 12 to 77, the first Redcoat revealed that there was lots of room for improvement.

Following their first sips from the firehose of instruction (Sling Use, Prone Position, Steady Hold Factors, 6 Steps and NPOA) we had an extended prep period with lots of one on one coaching from the cadre of instructors.  We confirmed Sight Alignment and Cheek Weld, we adjusted equipment and loaned slings, and when they were ready we started the process of actual live firing at the squares target.  During this period we covered IMC and Rifleman's Cadence.  We did a Trigger Reset drill.  We then moved to the Green Coat targets and instructed the Seated/ kneeling positions, and transitions. That was followed by instruction on Stage 3 preparation and Stage 1 preparation.
During the lunch break the shooters listened carefully to the First and Second Strikes.
With a little more practice on the transition stages and the standing stage after lunch the majority were ready to progress to the first AQT of the weekend which was quickly followed by the second and the third.  The shooters who needed additional work on the basics continued to shoot squares while the others were shooting stages 1 and 4.
Following a break during which the 3rd Strike was presented we shot a final AQT and then the Redcoat.  The high score for the day was a 195 and there was much improvement on the Redcoats.
Following the Saturday benediction we cleaned up the range and called it a day.

Sunday had 3 fewer students, but the smaller group pressed on to review all of the instruction from Saturday, confirm zeros, and press on into the AQT grind.  During lunch they heard about a number of dangerous old men, daring women and brave children.  During the afternoon session in between AQTs we did a Ball & Dummy Drill and a presentation about Full Distance shooting and the other tasks of a rifleman.  The weekend revealed one new Rifleman - Al with a 217.  Carlos was close and everyone else made great improvement.

Dry Practice, Dry Practice, Dry Practice and Persevere.

Every single shooter demonstrated the traits of a Rifleman.

It was a great weekend and it could not have happened without the Shooters and a great cadre of instructors.
