I was fortunate to had the opportunity to spend the weekend in beautiful Grants Pass, OR running an event last weekend.   It was a typical fall weekend Oregon, with some sunshine, some rain, some drizzle, and a great group of enthusiastic shooters.

I would like to start by thanking the fathers that brought their families to the range.  As you may have figured out, Appleseed is about spreading the Heritage of our Country.  I appreciate the opportunity to share the heritage with the next generation at Appleseed events.   Three huzzahs for the dads!

The instructors were all impressed with the students this weekend.   Everyone showed great persistence in improving their marksmanship skills and walked away with a greater appreciation for the sacrifices of our Founding Fathers.  It is always enjoyable to watch the students shot groups improve throughout the weekend and having to go to my shoot supplies to pull out the patch box.

Congratulations to Abigal for becoming the first new rifleman in S. OR in 12 years.   Abigal attended her first event and shot a 217 to earn her patch.  It is always enjoyable to watch the youth shooters out score their parents!  She said the key to earning her patch was going home on Saturday and practicing everything she had learned.  As they say, practice makes perfect!

Everyone else did great this weekend.   The key to earning the rifleman patch is perfecting the marksmanship techniques at home.   Dry fire practice is not only the cheapest way to practice the skills, but it allows you to practice the skills learned over the weekend.   As we mentioned over the weekend, one of the best training aids is a laser pointed.   The laser can help teach good trigger control, reinforce the Steady Hold Factors and help perfect NPOA shifts.

I am looking forward to seeing each of you at the spring event next year.

I would like to thank Matt, Andy, Bob and Lori for putting this event together.   It has been a long time since an event has been run in S. Oregon and everyone did a great job with their instruction and coaching this weekend.  I see a very bright future for Appleseed in S. OR.

Thanks everyone for coming out! I had a blast working with all of you, and I hope we made your weekend worthwhile.

We're already in talks with the range to get something scheduled for early next year. If you had a good time, please tell your friends! Appleseed is spread through word of mouth, and we'd love to have an even bigger event to kick off 2022. Hope to see each of you there as well!
