What a great weekend at Monroe Sportsman's Club in Conneaut, Ohio. 27 men and women, including 14 youth, came out to improve on their marksmanship skills and hear the story of how our country began.

We opened the morning with the Redcoat challenge. Of our 27 shooters, only one had the skills needed to clear the entire target. Although nine took out Morgan's Shingle, only two could muster up three shots into the 400-yard target. There was obviously some opportunity for learning and incorporating new skills.

Progressing through the day, we studied the Steady-hold Factors, six steps to firing the shot and NPOA, using them as a foundation on which we might build Riflemen. At the end of the day, we took on the Redcoat target again and three cleared it. Again, nine hit the shingle but, this time, we had four in at 400 yards.

Sunday brought another sunny and warm day, and we continued building on our skill-set. We added the seated and standing position to our range bags, then got down to shooting a couple of AQTs.

By the end of the weekend, Appleseed had two new Riflemen. Congratulations go out to Jeff and Amber, who shot 231 and 230, respectively.

Thanks to all of the shooters, especially the youth, for a very safe weekend. You all did a great job maintaining muzzle discipline and a focus on safety.

We couldn't have asked for a better crew, with 10 of the area's best instructors coming out to put the event together. At the start of the weekend, the Shoot Boss challenged each IIT to work on their instructor skills and, by the end of the weekend, three were ready for promotion. We also added a new Orange Hat to the team. Way to go, gang!

Thanks again to Monroe Sportsman's Club for allowing us the opportunity to put on our event this weekend. Without clubs like this, we would have a much harder time spreading the word.

Another great time at this event. Many thanks to Monroe Sportsman club for hosting us. What a great location for a Appleseed. We had a large number of people with many of America's youth on the line. These kids were awesome to work with. High light of my weekend is when one of the youth took her orange hat. Sydney has been to many events in the area the last few years and many thanks to the parents for the support of Appleseed.

Revelations12

On April 26, 1777, when she was just 16 years old, Sybil Ludington rode from Putnam County, New York to Danbury, Connecticut to warn of advancing British troops. Her ride took place in the dead of night through dark woods and in the rain, lasting from 9:00 P.M. to dawn the next morning. She rode her horse, Star, over 40 miles to warn 400 militiamen that the British troops were planning to attack Danbury, where the Continental Army held a supply of food and weapons.

This event was so much fun! Seeing all the kids out there doing so well was really amazing. SO impressed with their work ethic!
