Wolf Creek Winterseed 2022 lived up to "cooler by the lake" reputations.  The attendees were not expecting the change in temperature, rain, wind, standing water, melting snow and ankle-deep mud as the team accomplished their marksmanship shooting.

Saturday opened with 33 degrees with a much lower chill factor and 18 mph winds from the Northeast right across the frozen Lake Erie.  The warm club house for history and breaks was well received. Standing water was pumped away from the firing line, but the water persisted in flowing back underneath the tarps & plywood tops.

Sunday brought temperatures starting in the low 40's only to be again affected by the heavy rain & wind.  Sustained winds of 35 mph for the entire day with gusts to 50 mph.  The water continued to be pumped away but this time return with a vengeance to the point of the shooting mats had become a "waterbed" by end of day.  Our team of shooters stayed with the program, wet, tired and wore out.

Midday of Sunday broke thru what "mother nature" was throwing at our team of shooters with two qualifying scores.  Codebook with a 215 and Chico with a "christening" score of 210 followed up with a 225.  Grittey was knocking on the door with a constant 200+, just couldn't turn that magic number.

Our return young shooter showed marked improvement throughout the weekend.  Our youngest shooter, Landen and our oldest shooter, Chico both cleared the Saturday morning red coat only to do it again on a later red coat.

Appleseed welcomes Ohio newest Orange hat; Chico who has stepped up to our instructor ranks. Congratulations.

Codebook did a great job in his PC to move to the next PC level.  Congratulations.

Thanks to our host range Wolf Creek Sportsmen's Association. The untiring team of instructors that stayed with everyone all weekend thru the mud and water. Slow and Steady, Slowbutsure, B.T.O., Codebook, AaronIDC, and Charley.

Looks a lot like last years' mud fest!  ;D

This is starting to look a lot like a tradition - similar to always raining at Coshocton.
"A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the
whole force of the common enemy. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they
lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader."
~ Samuel Adams
