The weather was blustery and chilly as eight Americans came out for a "Weekday One-day" Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic at the Leetown Gun Club, Isaac Walton League of America (IWLA), in Kearneysville, WV.  This event was also a Patriot's Weekend event!

With a socially-distanced line, we got right into the introductions and safety brief, and first "Redcoat" target.  After scoring the Redcoat and seeing where the students effective ranges started out, we kicked off the history with the First Strike.  Being a one-day event, things have to move along quickly...
Next was instruction on "Steady-Hold Factors (SHF)" and then sighters on the Squares target. We had equipment issues to sort out, and put four loaner rifles on the line. Group size came down rapidly as students listened intently to instruction.  After some more history at lunch (Second and Third Strike), we got back to marksmanship training - and taught Seated/Kneeling and Standing SHF.  It was very windy, and at one point two of our pop-up tents tried to fly away during a course of fire, so we took them down. We completed a Practice AQT and a real AQT, and wrapped it up with a Redcoat.  All the shooters maintained a fabulous attitude, HUGE improvements were made, and everybody had fun, too!

We had two shooters make Riflemen!
Jason scored a 220.  Madelyn "Maddie" (15 yrs old) had a 204 on her practice AQT, and a 241 on her next AQT!  First-time Appleseeder, and a Distinguished score! Wow!  O0
Huzzah!

Several were close; we hope we see you back on the line soon.  A Rifleman Persists!

Thank you to our students that helped throughout the event with set-up & take down, clean-up, etc. Great job.
Thank you very much to our host range, the Leetown Gun Club (IWLA), in Kearneysville, WV.

And last but not least, many thanks to my fellow instructors Rick (sleepy), and Ana (Justagirl).   :cool2:  Thank you so much Rick for being there and helping, and presenting me with my 50-Event pin! Because your & Ana's hard work and professional demeanor, this was a very fun, yet safe and successful event.

Great shoot, Cold Warrior & Justagirl! And I love the video you put together.

Everywhere you go on the Appleseed trail, you're seeing old friends and making new ones. You're also seeing shoots set in new places, and learning new tricks and workarounds to help spread the message.

Captain

Looks like you all put on quite an event for a weekday Appleseed! Nice!

P.S. One of those instructors looks remarkably like an escapee from Wyoming . . . nah, couldn't be.  :)
