Mini Seed with an AppleCore volunteer
« on: February 21, 2021, 05:47:56 PM »
On February 11 met up with Mary Cobb, an AppleCore Volunteer from Alamogordo, to return her rifle to her.  She had asked me to help make it more useful for her.  She also wanted to try a new MagPul  RLS sling.  So, we shot a Red Coat some squares and two AQTs to warm up for the following weekend's Appleseed event.  On her first AQT she turned in a 189 and we were both excited for her performance.  So, we had time and shot a second, before her babysitter went off the clock. We adjusted the cheek padding on her stock and she got busy.

Well Mary buckled down and shot like she meant business.  We shot an adaptive appleseed and she turned in a score of 210!!!! Talk about excited!

After discussion with the State coordinator and the DSB for the weekend event and showing all the other attendees for the shoot, Mary Cobb was presented with her Rifleman's patch.  What a great way to open the weekend event.
If you are not happy doing what you are doing... it's time to change what you are doing!
Rifleman patch, March 16, 2014.  Accepted an ORANGE hat on Sunday, 20 April, in Roswell NM. Now I start "Baby Steps."
Earned Red Hat, May 21, 2017.  Earned Shoot Boss, November 4, 2018!  Look out, Alamogordo, N.M. here comes Appleseed, again!

Good job, Mary!
In giving us dominion over the animal kingdom, God has signified His will that we subdue the beast within ourselves.
John Lancaster Spalding

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Benjamin Franklin, 1775

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."  George Washington 1790

“[T]o preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them…”
– Richard Henry Lee, Declaration Signer

Thanks bill for helping keep miniseeds alive. For spending your time helping Mary qualify as a Rifleman and keeping the spirit of Appleseed alive and well in Alamogordo, New Mexico!

 :F  :snipersmi  :F

PS: I too have done alot of Miniseed, especially when a participant needs both time and practice. I will afford them a couple of AQT's and a squares target, suggest thet they copy the squares and practice on those until all their shots are in the square. then shoot an AQT to get the feel. Then when they are ready they can call me and I will make myself available to witness their attempt.
One of these persons it took 3 years of practice, he even bought his own AQT's from Fred's M14 Stocks...

Congratulations, Mary.  A Rifleman or Riflewoman persists.  You have shown that you understand what that means.
