We wrapped up 2020 at Palm Bay with a great shoot! Mild weather, enthusiastic students and competent staff made it a Shootboss's dream. It was also a family affair with several examples of 7th Stepping displayed.
MyNameIsEarl often brings friends and family. This time his 13-year-old daughter Maggie was visiting and attended her first Appleseed. She's a natural and although she didn't achieve her goal of shooting Rifleman, her Sharpshooter scores indicate she will soon reveal the Rifleman she knows she is. Earl also brought Irving and his two young sons Aidan and Declan. You couldn't guess they had traveled from Hawaii and up and down the East Coast in the past week. They all steadily improved their scores this weekend. The event was a math/science/history home school project for them. Think about that for a minute!
Sunflower Sue invited Robert and Kelly, and their 8-year-old son Ethan to their first event. Ethan displayed a positive attitude and work ethic not normally seen in a youngster and he had fun! Bob steadily improved his score until he qualified as Rifleman on Sunday's last AQT. Kelly overcame some equipment issues with a loaner rifle and repeatedly scored as a Sharpshooter.
Dennis and Debbie are consistent Appleseed supportersâ€"they introduced Earl to Appleseed. Dennis requalified as a Rifleman both Saturday and Sunday. He's in hot pursuit of the Distinguished bar he almost earned this weekend. Debbie previously earned her Rifleman patch but was haunted by a sticky trigger this weekend. She'll be back to requalify in April.
Ingrid and her son Nestor attended a previous event at Hollywood. We're glad they traveled from Boca to join us. Ingrid was in the Sharpshooter zone and Nestor scored for the first time on Saturday and repeated Sunday. HUZZAH!
Tim is an accomplished pistol and tactical carbine shooter. This was his first event shooting the only peep sights on the line. While he didn't break out of Sharpshooter range he showed skill and determination worthy of a Rifleman. With more practice he'll score.
Sunflower Sue earned promotion to IIT2. Her confidence and experience as a pistol instructor are very welcome on the line.
Thank you to a great instructor staff who served the students well and made me look good. Special thanks is due to Sieggie who came out Friday to set up the Range and make sure we would be successful
That's it folks! See you in 2021.
