On Monday, days before this event we had 5 shooters... Saturday morning, we had 13!  ^:)^  ..:.. On top of that, we couldn't have asked for better weather ALL WEEKEND. Also, big thank you to the Red Hill Range for hosting!

We began with the usual housekeeping, before rolling right into the First Strike of the Match presented by OverMountain to set the tone.

Then we covered our safety briefing before retrieving our rifles and going to work. The first target was of course the Redcoat so we could gauge where we were at. A survey determined that we had some work to do. But the shooters were eager and receptive. The fire-hose of instruction began with an eye dominance test followed by Sling Use & The Prone Position. And we all got down to work.  ~~:)

We followed instruction up with shooting a prone square. Then we learned about the first 3 Steps of firing the shot. Before doing anymore shooting, we rolled into NPOA. Then we took some time with each shooter to fit rifles to shooters and verify NPOA before releasing them shoot another square. Next, we covered Steps 4-6 of Firing the Shot; immediately followed by a trigger exercise before shooting another square. This took us into lunch, so we took our squares targets to lunch with us.

At lunch we learned about Talking Targets & IMC from Morpheus, as well as, the Second Strike of the Match from Guitarzan.

After cleaning up, it was back to work again. We went into the seated positions. Then tried each of them on one of the Redcoat silhouettes. After determining which one worked best for us, we learned about Rifleman's cadence and shot in cadence using that position on the shingle. We posted AQTs and shot a couple sighters on the square. Then we took a break to hear a heartfelt rendition of the 3rd Strike of the Match from Jambo.

With renewed vigor, we got right back to it with the Standing position, shot live on Stage 1 of the AQT.

Next, we learned transitions and shot in order stages 2,3, 4 of the AQT. It revealed a re-qualifier among us with Carol! Huzzah!   O0

We ended the day with shooting a redcoat and listened to the Patrick Henry speech as told to us by Morpheus which in my opinion was worth the price of admission alone.

We then cleaned up and had several shooters join us for Mexican dinner.

Sunday, we had MANY shooters return with newly purchased scopes freshly attached or in need of help attaching. So, we spent some time doing that and shooting sighters to get on paper before shooting a redcoat and an AQT.

Again we saw Carol re-qualify once again!

Neil also re-qualified! Huzzah! (Apologies for not obtaining a photo sir).

Next, we went through a review of everything we had covered the day before.

We then took lunch in the shade and listened to some amazing Dangerous Old Men, Brave Women and Gallant Children stories.

Next we got back to the line and did a NPOA/ Mag Change Exercise.

We shot several more AQTS after this and it was awesome seeing everyone improve. It was also great to see Neil and Carol, who rode together, compete together as each re-qualified over and over. Proving they knew what they were about. The program is blessed to have them both now as re-activated Instructors in Training.

We then ended the weekend with a final redcoat target and the telling of the story of Timothy Murphy and how one man (or woman) can make a difference.

Thank you to all the shooters and Instructors for your time and for actually doing something this past weekend.

And to those that didn't yet get their patch, remember, a rifleman persists! Perfect practice makes perfect. Keep practicing the perfect way to do it, come back, and bring a friend!
