The real Appleseed "Porn", is a 2 1/2 mile long Appleseed firing line  O0

Note this:  http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=5950.0  3300 Appleseeders at 4 feet per = 13,200 feet of Appleseed firing line.

13,200 / 5280 = equals 2 1/2 miles of Appleseed firing line!

That will make a real American, a Rifleman drool!  :P O0

So, other than looking for some $4 paint to put on your $1000 rifle, what are you doing to help make 2 1/2 miles of Appleseed firing line?

I have just the ticket for you, you can do it while waiting for the paint to dry between coats and you will actually be successfully getting more people to the firing lines!  Any you don't even have to take your painter's smock off  ;) ;D

PM me for details

The dips in your couch will go away if you get up and take the Seventh Step!

Tango,

Looks great to me, camo paint even better, go for it, its your rifle.

But then, Im just an old guy that likes em all.

Bring it and about 300 rds to Athens, Ohio, Apr 18 & 19 and/or May 23 & 24 .  Will be

good to have you and your AR.  Camping available, nice warm clubhouse, showers, and hopefully

a brand-new berm and Appleseed range.

Need additional info, PM me.

What's that funny-looking thing that's propping it up? I don't have one of those on any of MY rifles. And where's the sling??? >:D
Unhappy it is ... to reflect that a brother's sword has been sheathed in a brother's breast, and that the once happy and peaceful plains of America are either to be drenched with blood or inhabited by slaves. Sad alternative! But can a virtuous man hesitate in his choice?

GEORGE WASHINGTON

Old Dog

Tango, don't mind all the jokesters.

I have bipods on 3 rifles.  I have scopes on more than that.  While the AQT may be a scopeless exercise for most folks (not for me, I can't see the front sight clearly anymore) I'll bet they'd sing a different tune if they'd been at the Ramseur, NC field shoot last weekend.  Those pop ups are hard to see when the whole thing is above the berm, but when they are set up to present only head shots at 200, 300 and 400 yds. even the die hard iron sight guys wonder if they should have brought a scoped rifle.

Oh yeah, the paint.  I have one painted rifle (all of it but the scope) and two with painted stocks.

Funny thing about all those accessories, they don't seem to hurt how the rifle shoots.

Once you get it painted, sighted in, and ready to go, take it to an Appleseed and see if the tiny targets are easier to hit.  Then, when you've learned the position, the sling use, the six steps, etc. put on an orange hat (or red hat) and start going to Appleseeds to teach other folks how you became a better rifle shot.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Guys, Guys,

Go easy on my fellow resident of the land of suck!!  And George, no offense, but if you think he's gonna slip over the border on 4/19/09 instead of going to one of our three (3) shoots here that day.....you are sadly mistaken my friend.

The invite was sent. I plan on meeting up w/ Tango and trying out that AR10 prior to 4/19.

I 'spose I'll have to run a few through it just he doesn't think I don't appreciate all he's done to it.  Oh well, guess I'll take one for the team   >:D

Yeah wont be able to make it on 04/19. I have FOF ( Force on Force ) that DAY, gotta keep this land of ours
safe from Terrorists  O0

Thanx for watchin my 6 EEL,
Being I work every-other weekend, I'll see what I can do.
I have days off during the week, so it might be easier to get some "Range time" then, before summer
and the BETTER weather hits. I try to keep a weekend for Family time, and the Wifey, doesnt shoot, nor
will.

Sorry you will be tied up with other shooting on 4/19, it is our biggest nationwide event of the year and you will be missed.  And family obligations are also tough.  We all have families here and work hard to balance our home lives and our seeding lives.  While my wife is not a shooter, she understands the importance of this work and is willing to take on all the kids and kiss me goodbye for 6-7 shoots this year.  It is no parting like that of Isaac Davis, or even the level of sacrifice of the red hats, but it is a start.

I hope you will be able to find a couple weekends as well.

A pivotal part of the program is the communal experience of a weekend with history and new friends.  The shooting is important too, but not as vital as the heritage and people.  Without those, it is just mechanics.

In any event, nice to see a .308 back on the line.  But mostly, we want to see YOU on the line!  Oh, and bring a friend...

Holy Schnike!

I head out to Elizabeth IL this weekend to help build Illinois' 1st DAR, I come home exhausted and fall to sleep after eating the pork roast dinner that was waiting for me when I returned. I spent the night dreaming about full bandoleers and firing lines, then the dream gets a little goofy and it is about a Bullet, but for some reason the goofey fellars that are with me are pronouncing it Boo-Lay, which was a bit discomforting, so I clicked my heals together three times and bam, I'm in the middle of an invasion of Illinois, and the only person holding off the invasion is EEL with one of TreadCarefully's Titanium Tactical Sporks!!!

I awake with a start, look around relax, it was just a bad dream.  I get up, scratch my........look out the window with disgust at the fresh coat of snow on the ground, grab a cup of coffee, sit down and turn on the computer............ and what do I see, a bunch of out of State folks are picking on the latest member of my Illinois flock with only EEL holding off the Wolves &)

What to do, what to do. ::)

Don't sweat it Tango, these folks are getting so jealous of Illinois' Effort, they came from miles around to pick on your rifle, can you imagine that! Folks from California down to Texas, over to South Carolina, up to...... Wait a minute, South Carolina??? We have Appleseeds in South Carolina???  **) and up to New England, and then back across the Heartland, and they are all worried about the new guy in Illinois and his Rifle!

They are so frazzeled over the Illinois Schedule and our recent invasion of South Eastern Wisconsin, they just need to lash out at something and with the Shepard and Sheepdog away, well you know, the Wolves will play. They chose the easy appearing route, which is full of distractions. They could have been writing one-minute letters, contacting ranges in there State, promoting shoots on the schedule or even building their 3-Man teams, but instead, in jealousy they picked on you. **)

Well here is the plan Tango, Get out to an Appleseed and stifle the critics with a shiney new Rifleman Patch. If your all booked up for April 18-19 don't sweat it, Illinois has many options! The next shoot(s) in Illinois, are on Memorial Day Weekend at Ottawa and Chillicothe, and they are both Three Days for the Price of Two !!! Heck that's almost 1/2 a Bootcamp!! If you can get to one sooner, there is Racine Wisconsin and Evansville Indiana on the March schedule, don't tell anyone but there will be some Illinois Instructors at those shoot as well  8)

All you need to do to the rifle is take 2 1/2 seconds to pop off the bi-pod and add a cheap USGI web sling and your good to go. The only other thing any AR shooter should seriously consider is a .22lr Adaptor, it would pay for itself in ammo cost at the first Appleseed shoot you attend.

Buckle up and haaaang on, it's a fast ride but it sure is fun  O0

The work of 4 of your fellow brothers here on this forum, in this effort and CAUSE, got 18 new people to sign up for shoots in NV, this last week.

So, in the amount of time you all have been messing with this post, 4 others were carrying your buckets and filling shoots.

They still have your buckets, when you all get done moving the deck chairs to suit you.......Please ask the band to tone it down some, it is making is a little difficult for those in the bilge to communicate......

Irritable??? Me??? ;D

Just remember folks, this is a working web site, there will be no distractions on the Illinois Board, there is work to be done!

Now if you'll excuse me, I must do some fine tuning on my new Appleseed rifle. It has a few attachments, but they are necessary for Sheepdog's DAR Shoot. Sheepdog was upset that we wouldn't go with a 3-Day Shoot for the Grand Opening for his range, so he added a night element to the Course Of Fire.....Yep you heard that right 40hrs of training in only two days. He was generous with the 8hr nap in between......

with the "WARM" weather today I couldnt resist;

thats my "tactical ZOMBIE sling" a VTAC ( padded ), I've got my National Match Tuner Saddlery on the way.
Didnt like the "brown" all weather 1- I ordered so I ordered me a "classic" Tan leather instead.

So anyone need a fresh NM sling ? ? ?

Say There Grand that front sling swivel looks a little over size did that one come on that rifle or is that one of those Tack-tie-K00L swivels looks like it would take a 1 1/4 sling kinda wonder if it will shoot 6 moa on a good day. How big is the case? Does it have a remote starter?? Is it solar powered? See ya Pappy

I have a pretty similar rifle, but its fitted out a little more "appleseed style."  Sure its got a scope, but at least it has backup irons!  the rear sight is a KAC adjustable elevation model, and the scope is a Burris 3-9x40 with their BDC reticle.  Good ol m1 sling of course.
