Greetings Project Appleseed!
On July 25 and 26, 2020 at the world famous Whittington Center in Raton New, Mexico. eight fine awakening American did "Social Distance" in small family groups to indulge the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship, our shared liberties and stories of how our great nation was founded. :sb:

Our safety briefing, and line commands were presented to the crew a quickly as possible and we were off to the 1st target of the day, a Hits Count Red Coat.
All of the Red Coats soon returned to the equipmwnt line in tatters, but they looked pretty good as a baseline target goes.

Squares targets, "Green Coats",  stories of the American Revolution and drinks from the firehose of rifle marksmanship filled the day, from morning to night.
A brief rain shower signaled the appropriate time to end our day.
Alas, we did have to put the Red Coats to bed in a proper manner, so that we could all sleep well.

Sunday morning brought all of the same shooters to the firing line to put those "Red Coats" in their place once again.
A quick foray through the thought of what it might be like to hear the Declaration of Martial Law read aloud to the community, brought a solemn mood to our participants.
Within a few minutes that mood had lifted and we were burning off rounds through squares and then Green Coats on the way to the first Appleseed Qualification Target of the day.
We sailed through our lunch of Dangerous Old Men and Brave Women and an afternoon break with Elizabeth Zane. We had an all too brief celebration of Shaun B's 9th birthday  :birthday: and returned to the firing line for the final attempts to score the elusive riflemans score.
Soon Congratulations were in order for Stephen D., the father of Shaun, for successfuly filling out his AQT with a score of 218.
As the final Red Coat was put to rest, a light rain helped breathe new energy into the day.

"till we meet again", Happy Trails,

Jerry

Homeland security is a Nation of Rifleman.

This Nation was founded on the principles of effective marksmanship.
Therefore:
"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

These 27 specific words define our Second Amendment and were written after our founders had fought, and  won, a bloody revolution over among other things, gun control.

The purpose of the Founder's Second Amendment was to ensure that future generations, us, would have the means to defend ourselves from any future tyrannical government.

Alexander Hamilton in the Federalist's Papers defined "well regulated" as well trained because he knew, and to put it modern terms,  Liberty is ultimately maintained by virtue of the rifle.

George Washington clarified the Second Amendment when he warned, "A free people should be armed, well trained and have plenty of ammunition to maintain their independence from either criminals or a tyrannical government".  The colonists at Concord would agree.

Modern history will prove that you must either learn to drive your rifle or you will ride a boxcar.  Like our Founders proved and would tell us today we must, arm up, ammo up and keep our marksmanship skills honed to keen edge....while we still can.

Below this hardy group of shooters and their instructor crew would make our Founders proud.

Are you playing to win or playing not to lose?
Many in the liberty movement are simply willing to sit back and let others do the heavy lifting.

Today we watch as our cities are being looted and burned down by the enemies of freedom and liberty while many patriots seem to simply sit back and complain. What would our Founders say about today's world?

Lets take a glimpse into their world on April 19, 1775 for a clue.

When the colonial militia led by Col. Barrett was standing near Punkatasset Hill above the North Bridge of Concord they noticed their town of Concord had smoke billowing up from a fire.  They were being looted as well, but in this case not by the local tory groups that were sympathetic to King George III, but by the Regulars operating under the orders of the British commander, Col Smith.  After deciding enough was enough a young militia officer asked his superior officer, Col. Barrett, "Are we just gonna stand here while they burn down our city?"  The militia was fathers and sons, uncles and nephews and brothers and cousins.
At that point Isaac Davis drew out out his sword and firmly and confidently replied, "I have not a man who is afraid to go!"
And down they went to deal with the situation which was was looting and arson similar to what we see in our cities today.
They were successful in causing the British Regulars to retreat all the way back to Boston in a humiliating and deadly defeat.

Remember today, your silence and inaction only enables tyranny to continue.
Do you have men amongst you who are not afraid to go?

And keep in mind the wisdom of George Washington when he said: "When government takes away the citizens right to bear arms it becomes the citizens duty to take away the government's right to govern".

Remember this:

Liberty is not a cruise ship full of pampered passengers, it is a man of war and we are all crew-Ken Royce

We are at that stage between 1773 and 1775.
The Founders gave us the keys to running this Nation, those are the Ballot Box, the Jury Box, the Soap Box and finally as a fail safe: the Cartridge Box. If we don't use the first three wisely lest we will be forced into making tough decisions.
In regards to today's situation an F. A. Hayek quote comes to mind:
"Emergencies have always been the pretext on which the safeguards of individual liberty have been eroded".

As you learned this weekend, our American blood is descended from men and women who rejected tyranny.

"It is a stern fact of history that no nation that rushed to the abyss ever turned back. Not ever, in the long history of the world. We are now on the edge of the abyss. Can we, for the first time in history, turn back? It is up to you."-Taylor Caldwell

Please tell your friends about us and invite them to our next shoot.
Better yet, consider helping us out by joining our volunteer crew to pass on the wisdom and marksmanship skill that our founders sacrificed their all  to give us our current liberties.

AS George Washington said: "Our cause is noble; it is the cause of mankind".

And in the meantime fellow Patriots...

The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.

-- Justice Alex Kozinski, US 9th Circuit Court, 2003
