A special weekend at the newest Ohio range - Wolf Creek Sportsman's Association in Curtice, OH. The weather was a little challenging due to high temps and humidity, but breezes off Lake Erie provided some relief. The 8 shooters who showed up for this event were attentive and chomping at the bit.

Special because this was really a family affair with 5 shooters from one family (3 generations) and 1 set of father and son, and a grandfather with his grandson. It really warms my heart to see to see grandfathers, grandchildren, dads, and sons creating memories together.

We started Saturday morning with the normal welcome, introductions and moved to the safety briefing. Rifles were brought to the line and the Saturday morning Red Coat was shot.  Results showed we had a great bunch of shooters. We had 7 of 8 shooters good at 100, 5 at 200, 5 at 300, 1 at 400, and 2 joined Daniel Morgan.  We also had 1 cleared Red Coat.

Congrats to Hunter on his cleared Red Coat and also received the Ohio patch for the cleared redcoat.

We moved on to the steady hold factors in prone, followed by the six steps and NPOA instructions.  Related drills were shot in between the points of instruction and groups began to shrink. Third Degree made the IMC presentation on how to adjust sights and then broke for lunch and the First Strike.
.
After lunch we shot confirming groups and moved on to the steady hold factors in seated and standing which were followed by related drills. The Second Strike was presented by Third Degree at the afternoon break.

This was followed by a practice AQT and the afternoon Red Coat. The Saturday afternoon Red Coat had results which showed improvement over the morning effort.  Of the 8 shooters, we had 6 at 100, 6 at 200, 3 at 300, 2 at 400 and 3 joined Daniel Morgan. We no one join Daniel Morgan's group for the Saturday PM target.

This was followed by the Third Strike and the Saturday call to Action.

Sunday started clear and sunny, but with the promise of rising temps and humidity during the day. We started the day with a review of the safety rules and the POI's from Saturday. Rifles were brought to the line and the Sunday morning Red Coat was shot.  It was very encouraging.  Usually there is a little drop on Sunday morning but this group knew very well what they were about. We had 6 of 8 at 100, 5 at 200, 3 at 300, 2 at 400, and 5 joined Daniel Morgan.

We confirmed zero's from the day before, performed some NPOA drills and then started the AQT grind. We got in 2 AQT's before our lunch break. Third Degree presented DOM's Hezekiah Wyman and Davis Lamson during our lunch break.

We continued the with the AQT grind with Aaron re-qualifying a score of 212.

We were able to in 6 AQT's for the day thanks to this dedicated group of shooters who did not want to give up despite the heat and humidity.

Although we did not add any new rifleman, we had several shooters with solid scores and getting on the porch knocking on the door.  Shooter Mark was pounding on the door with a 209, but just could not get the door open.  :wb:

The day ended with the Sunday afternoon Redcoat.  We had 8 of 8 at 100, 5 at 200, 5 at 300, 4 at 400, and 4 joined Daniel Morgan. We had 2 cleared Redcoats - Congrats to Mark and Caroline!

We had a 4 youth shooters on the line.  2 of which had been to previous Appleseeds. They were focused, safe, polite and respectful of all the adults at the event.  My sincere admiration goes to their parents for raising such a great group of young Americans.  Huzzah!!!

A special shout out to Caroline (SlowandSteady) who re-qualified on the last AQT of the weekend with a 222, and then stepped up to accept an Orange Hat!!  Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!  O0  ^:)^

Also, congrats go out to Third Degree for completing all of his History requirements and getting a well deserved promotion to Red Hat full instructor.  O0

I want to thank the Wolf Creek Sportsman's Association for allowing Appleseed access to their fabulous facility. Also, I hand to thank my instructors Meadow, who's efforts to get the range for our use in a short time frame after the Liberty Center shoot had to be cancelled. Also, thanks to Third Degree and Topper. You made my task easier by your effort and professionalism.

This was a great weekend.

It was great seeing the participation of three different family units.

I believe we will see a number of repeat customers.

Great TEAM of instructors that assisted new & seasoned shooters.
Wolf Creek is excited to have more and especially the youth shooters.
I see more events in future.
The base families may have to give way to more local's that are so interested.
There is always room for marksmanship and heritage at Wolf Creek.
