Some folks here recommend this part. For me on the man's best friend 10/22 seems to grant a good cheek weld. That being said, I haven't fired it yet. Not to sound like a smart-alack, is there a reason to get this upgrade part? If so, why did you buy it and what did you buy it for? Thanks!

The 10-22 stock is set up for low iron sights. Therefore the stock is too low for proper sight alignment with a scope. The high stock module is just about right for most people using a scope. There are also long and short versions of the stock modules to accommodate people needing a different length of pull.

I just bought my rifle, and used the $25 rebate to get the high comb.  I am running a bug-UTG buster scope and low mounts that sit just above the rear sight.  As noted above, the no-comb modular insert is set up for iron sights. One must get the head higher for a good sight alignment on any scope. I used it with the low comb with no noticeable problems; however,  I figured the 10/22 modular stock comb would never hurt in assuring my cheek weld. I also figured to go ahead and buy the high-comb insert now so as to make the rifle as a collectors' item complete.  By the way, you can also get inserts with a shorter length of pull with comb or without.

Cheek weld is sight alignment.

Do you have a scope on it?  Can you get into prone, close your eyes, stretch out your neck, drop your head to the stock getting good cheek weld, open your eyes and be looking straight down your sights/scope?

If yes, you do not need this piece.  If you are looking below your sights/scope this would be a good starting point to raise your comb.

I have the high cheek piece with longer length of pull on my scoped Ruger American Rimfire.  A rifle that fits is easier to shoot well.

Last evening, it occurred to me that when a defender of Liberty is called home, their load lands upon the shoulders of the defenders left behind. Just as the Founders did their duty for Liberty, every subsequent generation must continue their work lest Liberty perish. As there is no way for the remaining adults to take on the work of those that die, we must pass the ideals and duties on to the children. -PHenery
