It was a great Appleseed at the Piqua Fish and Game. It's an honor to have so many wonderful people spend their weekend with us learning about our heritage.  The weather cooperated by giving us dry, sunny days, however, it was warm; Sunday's direct summer sun really heated up the rifles.

The rifleman skills were taught and the history told, we shot the first scoring AQT and two Riflemen re-qualified; Chad A., with 224, and Jim F., shot a 218 with a bolt-action rifle.

Sunday we had two new shooters join our rank of Riflemen, Matt A., shot a 215, then re-confirmed with a 214, and Mellissa D., (neckbones) shot the infamous 210 score, which earned her a baptism with "The Waters of the North Bridge"; she then re-confirmed her Rifleman status by shooting a 226. We're also delighted Melissa has accepted an Orange Hat and taken on the commitment of Appleseed Instructor In Training.

We had a number of other re-qualifications Chad A., shot several more rifleman's scores 228,228 and 216, ThomasF, was using iron sights and scored 220, 214,and a 223, also Coyote 217 re-confirmed with 218.

A number of shooters were shooting very well and were close to a rifleman's score. I'm sure with some dry fire practice and a little time at the range they'll earn their patch at the next Appleseed.

Thanks to our instructor crew The Buckeye Trapper, Coyote 217, Rattlehead, Doc Willi, Thomas F, Haley Beth and purple_patch, thanks to all of them for their dedication.

Haley Beth took quite a few photos, so we'll get a few of them posted.

This was my first Appleseed. I'm now referring to it as my "first of many to come".

Even though it was a ~2 hour drive to attend, I think I will continue coming to this location because the instructors were amazing.

I have a lot of practicing to do at home, but maybe next time I can go for distinguished. However, that's a lot of improvement to make.

H0stess;

I could not agree with more.  The Piqua Appleseed team is as great a bunch of instructors as you can get.  They do a fantastic job.

Great work Piqua team.  You guys rock.
