It was a great week-end of shooting at the second annual Hurlburt Field Ladyseed in honor of Womens History month.  The ladies showed up anxious to learn -- both history and marksmanship. We had some amazing ladies:  Kristen showed up - on her birthday - determined to better her scores from last years Ladyseed -- AND SHE DID!!!  Barbara was incredible overcoming her limitations to make great progress throughout the weekend.  I am so impressed by her tenacity and, well, a touch of stubborness (self-described and brother described :}).  Thanks for Barbara's brother for coming out to encourage/support her and help load mags, etc).  Morgan did great as usual!  She overcame multiple challenges to earn a score of 199 -- so close.  I have a strong feeling there is a Riflewoman patch in her very near future!  Briana also shot very well - and earned a 209---OH SO CLOSE --next time for sure!!! Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate on day two -- the last several AQT's were shot in wet weather.  The last AQT was shot in really wet, cool weather.  I was so impressed by the determination shown! There was a huge amount of progress made by these ladies.  I know that we will see every one of these ladies back and I foresee them becoming not only riflewomen, but instructors as well!!

We had an awesome team of instructors!  Our lady instructors are top-notch and all did an amazing job!  Thanks to Angelpris101.  Also, thanks to Claire Bear and Lucky Lori who traveled from Tallahassee to instruct and a special thanks to Rambo Granny for making the trip here and a very special thanks to MaidMarian for making the LONG trip here to help out!!  Thanks to the male instructors that showed up to show support and help instruct, RSO, set-up, etc as needed!  Thanks to Engineer Shooting, 9mm4545, and Timber Wolf for traveling the distance, and to Choas07, Stan the Man, and Tim.  A BIG thanks to my husband Gunjunkie for taking care of the set-up and making sure that everything ran smoothly!!

As always thanks to the Hurlburt Field Rifle and Pistol Club for sponsoring another great Project Appleseed event.

It's not about perfection -- it's about progress!!

I LOVE this stuff!

"Perhaps you and I have lived with this miracle too long to be properly appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again" Ronald Reagan

That's what it's all about!  You ladies rock!
Bad men cannot make good citizens. It is when a people forget God that tyrants forge their chains." - Patrick Henry

The American Constitution is remarkable for its simplicity; but can only suffice a people habitually correct in their actions, and would be utterly inadequate to the wants of a different nation.  Change the domestic habits of the Americans, their religious devotion, and their high respect for morality, and it will not be necessary to change a single letter in the Constitution in order to vary the whole form of their government. - Francis Grund 1837

"In the prevailing political theory of the founding era, the family was considered one of the essential pillars of republican virtue, and it not only needed to be nurtured, but also protected from the tyranny of the government.... American revolutionaries and their descendants understood marriage and the family to be schools of republican virtue. -Mary Lyndon Shanley, Review Essay, 27 Law & Soc. Inq. 923,

Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.
