We had a great KD Appleseed this weekend at Meeker Sportsman Center in Marion, Oh.  The range can only accommodate a small group for a KD given the nature of their rifle range but what a great group we had.  The weather cooperated in that while it was chilly on Saturday, there was no wind and the sun was out all day.  Temps ranged from 28 in the morning to the 40's by the afternoon but if you stayed in the sun, it was not too bad.

The day opened with a welcome, a review of our safety protocols, and a review of the KD principals, approaches to shooting a KD (dialing in come ups vs hold overs) and the plan for the day.  We moved to the range and found that our 100 yard target line had been destroyed by recent bad weather and we had to 'spend some time rigging a temporary target line at the 100 yd distance.

Once that was completed, we moved to the line and started a process of confirming our zeros and come ups at 100-400 yds. This was completed and it was time for our lunch break.  At lunch, we had a Heritage presentation on details from the Constitutional Convention and how America came to be.

After lunch, we moved to the KD AQT. We shot three KD AQT's on Saturday and we had several shooters the excelled.  Lawrence qualified on all three AQTs.  And he did so in style.  He qualfied for Long Distance with scores of 215, 232, and 241.  And, this was done with an open sight AR.  This is truely a man that knows what he is about.  He was thrilled to receive his Distinguished bar and said his next goal is the famous 250 bar.  We will see him again.

Joe also showed that he knows what he is about.  He posted a 222 and a 216 to earn his Long Distance patch as well.

The day came to a close and we broke down the line.

Sunday dawned overcast and warmer.  Due to no shows and family conflicts, our Sunday team consisted of mostly instructors and shooters that have already qualified at full distance so we made Sunday a workshop for getting dope on rifles not used on Saturday.

After a review of the safety rules, shooters and instructors all moved to the line to get zero's at 25 meters, to confirm these zeros at their respective far zero (200 for our 30 cal shooters and 300 for our 223 shooters) and to work on come ups to 400, and come downs back to 200 and 100.

The day ended with good will wishes all around and we closed another successful Appleseed at Meeker Sportsman Center in Marion. Ohio.

Thanks for putting on such a great event! Also for the food! I wasn't feeling 100% the whole weekend so I was glad to qualify early on Saturday. That 216 would've been higher if I got all 10 shots off in the 200 yard target, managed only 7 of 10 before time ran out. Watching the steel swing when Cadence whacked it with a 308 was fun, heck of a difference from a 223!

When ever you get time send me the instructions / training material you mentioned for blue hat. Thanks!
