Please join me in welcoming Sgt-at-Arms as Tennessee's newest orange hat.  Pirtle earned his Rifleman's patch last week at the RBC in Ramseur, NC (Ramseur 3-19) and requested an orange hat immediately.  This man has a passion for Appleseed and I am very pleased that I was there to witness his transformation from Applecore to Instructor-in-Training.
In giving us dominion over the animal kingdom, God has signified His will that we subdue the beast within ourselves.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
Benjamin Franklin, 1775

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent of others for essential, particularly military, supplies."  George Washington 1790

"[T]o preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them…"

Quick story from last week:

I was working the line the day that Sarge earned his Rifleman badge - may have even graded his target as well.  What impressed me was later that evening, instead of enjoying the comraderie of his fellow patriots around the fire, he was tending to the fire in his belly - off to the side, furiously studying the instructor manual, learning those things required of a Instructor-in-Training, with the end goal of getting AS kickstarted in his area.

The missus and I pass through your neck of the woods a couple times a year.  I see our paths crossing again in the near future, and look forward to when that happens.

Sarge, thanks for answering the call to step and and walk the trail with us.

All the Best,
Monkey

"Responsibility is a unique concept... You may share it with others, but your portion is not diminished. You may delegate it, but it is still with you... If responsibility is rightfully yours, no evasion, or ignorance or passing the blame can shift the burden to someone else. Unless you can point your finger at the man who is responsible when something goes wrong, then you have never had anyone really responsible."

"Scoring is a function of great execution, and winning Is the result, but thinking about winning can pull your focus off of proper execution in a competition. Thinking about process is the answer."- Lanny Bassham

Congratulations Pirtle! I knew when you took a blue hat in Canton that it wouldn't be long until it changed to orange!

Good stuff! Nice to see more IITs in Tennessee (including me!). Looking forward to working with you SGT.

Sgt-at-Arms

Thank you everyone, for your time on the line, for stepping up yourselves and being part of the process, and being part of the journey. Thank you to an awesome Cadre there in Ramsuer. Looking forward to seeing everyone out on the Trail.
