We had an absolute blast this past weekend at Black Creek Gun Club!  The dreary Saturday drizzle and rain didn't stop fifteen Patriots from coming out to learn about basic rifle marksmanship and, along the way, learn about their cultural heritage as marksman.  As an added bonus, we were granted dispensation of a Sunday morning shooting restriction, allowing us to run 22lr when we would usually be running a long block of stories, dry fire, and other instruction.

Hats off go to the students for owning safety throughout both days this weekend - this was one of the safest events in a long time, and y'all had a large hand in it!

Great job to our young Instructor In Training (IIT) DeadAnt, who did a fine job describing the proper prone position, the six steps of firing a shot, and telling the First Strike!  Also well done to our IIT BadFishy, providing a great rendering the Second Strike.  Finally, we salute our newest IITs, kaizenone and Horse Soldier - you stepped in seamlessly in your first IIT event and helped out greatly.  Hat tip to all of you.

A special salute goes out to Dangerous Cook - it was wonderful having you on the line again.

Five students showed what they were about by achieving Expert classification on the Appleseed Qualification Test and earning the title of Rifleman!  Four of the five were first time qualifiers - congratulations to Erin W., Brandon W., Luke A., and Jason D.!

A special hat tip to Sam L., who not only met his goal of earning the coveted Distinguished Rifleman tab by earning 240+ points on the AQT, but came very close on several occasions to earning a perfect score of 250!

Lastly, a special shout out Zach S., as our lone youth on the line - you did absolutely fantastic this weekend!

On behalf of the Virginia Instructor Corps, thank you for making our last event of the year one of the best!

If responsibility is rightfully yours, no evasion, or ignorance or passing the blame can shift the burden to someone else. Unless you can point your finger at the man who is responsible when something goes wrong, then you have never had anyone really responsible."
