Another outstanding weekend with our young Patriots at the home range of Ramseur, NC! The Sea Cadets arrived motivated and ready to learn, as well as to hone the skills they had learned previously at other Appleseeds and Boot Camps! The Cadets readily and eagerly took instruction, working hard on the line to improve their marksmanship, proving to be a rapt audience as tales of our Early American History and Heritage unfolded before them.

All Cadets showed marked improvement in their basic marksmanship skills, and proved themselves worth successors of their forebears, each striving to show that they "...very well knew what they were about!" This was a wonderful group of young men and women that were a pleasure to work with! We eagerly look forward to the return of the Navy Sea Cadets to the range in the near future!

This weekend's Appleseed proved to be very productive, with three new Riflemen minted, including Mother Batherick, whom has endured much adversity over the past two years, managing a score of 211! Many kudos go out to her for her tenacity and refusal to quit - "The Rifleman perseveres!" - and she certainly has shown this!

We also have several requalifications, including one Cadet who scored a 239 - one point below Distinguished Marksman (with an old Russian bolt-action rifle! How is THAT for tenacity?), and several other Cadets who were pounding hard on the door.

Overall an outstanding weekend filled with History, Heritage, Marksmanship, and fellowship with those who will help shape America's future. The future looks bright, indeed!

I was eye witness (at the October AS event) to some of the serious adversity Mother Batherick has faced and all that I can say is "her perseverance is an inspiration to all!" I

In the words of one of my favorite instructors at Ramseur, "Outstanding!" :F
