Nine shooters from four states gathered for a KD on the 600 yard range at Puryear, TN. We were blessed with perfect weather both days. Presentations of IMC, mils, trajectory, and wind were given Saturday morning. It was gratifying to see the shooters following in the supplied manual, while taking notes. Then, at each of the appropriate distances, sight settings and come-ups were obtained and recorded before shooting the associated Stage. A history of Kings Mountain was given at lunch. Before the shooting began we were pleased to observe a herd of deer proceeding across the range, and then proceeding back across the range after the shooting was concluded.

Sunday morning began with the history of Ethan Allen and Fort Ticonderoga, followed by classroom presentations of Battle Sight Zero and the AQT, shooting on a slope, and range estimation. At the range, shooters calibrated their scopes and performed a range estimation exercise on two randomly placed targets with very good results. At lunch, the histories of Timothy Murphy and Ephraim Brank were presented. This was followed by more AQTs which resulted in two shooters earning their first patches; David and Eric. Furthermore, Tim and Rusty requalified; Rusty with 50/50. Congratulations to all. In addition, Google, an instructor, also requalified. And I must commend Google and Bluegrasscolonel for their superb performances as instructors, and Rusty for valuable contributions.

Supper was held at the Henry Country Gun Club clubhouse after the shooting. The club president most graciously fried fish for us and supplied some side dishes. He has been most supportive of Appleseed. But in addition to this, some of the instructors and shooters bestowed some unbelievable gifts and compliments to me. It was totally unexpected; most appreciated, and elicited heartfelt tears of gratitude.

Rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add "within the limits of the law" because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.  Thomas Jefferson

I feel like I really missed something special by not being able to make it there. God willing, another time.

As for any gratitude shown, it's a reflection of the hard work you've invested. Enjoy it.

It was so nice to see DonD again!  It was also nice to meet all of the other folks there including his daughter, Google.  Pete and I sure had a lot of fun and learned a lot.  I shot a 36 and Pete shot a 38 on our AQT's.  Too bad we couldn't stay long enough to put it all together.  We will be back.
Ignorance may be bliss, but it's not a virtue.
