We need volunteers in sales, marketing, PR, IT, and general "running of an organization."
Maximize your Appleseed energy to make this program grow, and help fill the empty spots
on the firing line!  An hour of time spent at this level can have the impact of ten or a
hundred hours on the firing line.  Want to help? Send a PM to Monkey!

13 out of 15 fine Americans made it out to learn some marksmanship skills...

After the morning redcoat, we now know why they were here.

After sighting in a few rifles to get them at least hitting paper, we were able to start refining their fundamentals.
(Emphasizing the importance of having a rifle sighted in before attendance). some rifles were hitting more than a foot off target. also had to deal with sling and other equipment issues, but you have to run what you brung…

Lunchtime stories were somewhat well received, as we expressed the importance of honoring the sacrifices made by our forefathers to secure the Liberty and Freedom we all enjoy... and the importance of keeping it that way by our continued efforts.

After lunch, groups get better and we actually got off about 3 AQT's.
Some achievement scores  - Marksman level - Sarah=134, Duffy=167, Sharpshooter Level - Matt=181, Nathan W=184, Chris=190. Good shooting folks!  Keep at it and practice the positions at home, you'll get there...

Finally, we had a RIFLEMAN!   :--- :F   Omar showed he knew what he was about and shot a 220 Rifleman score. CONGRATS TO OMAR!!!   O0

Also John, a previous Rifleman also knocked out a 211. Actually, John brought Omar to this event and had been coaching him all along... John, you are a true Patriot and a natural instructor, we would love to have you help out at Appleseeds if you can make the time... :sb:

Anyway, I met a lot of great people, and hope that what was learned will be taught to the next generation by you all.

Please feel free to post any comments...

Pictures will be uploaded in a couple days...

Thanks to my Instructors, without whose help the event would not be possible....

96 SHOOTS SO FAR!

WSMR Instructor 03/10  -  SAPPER STEEL!

The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection   Thomas Paine

Proverbs 22:3  -  A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences.

"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even when checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy, nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory or defeat".
Theodore Roosevelt

Hudgey

Howdy, all. John (the Orange Hat) here.

I just wanted to echo Cam's sentiments and give everyone that came out a big congrats on a job very well done.
For what was supposed to be the last day of summer, the sun and 90 degree weather made for an interesting afternoon, but as all Riflemen (and Riflewomen) do- we persevered.

We hope to see everyone that came (and those who couldn't quite make it) at the next event to further refine our marksmanship skills and appreciate our heritage.
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles." - Jeff Cooper
