Handloading 6.5 Creedmoor
« on: July 09, 2018, 08:44:35 AM »
I've done my fair share of handloading, but I've never tackled a caliber with different sizes for primer holes. My research revealed that you can get cases for the 6.5 Creedmoor with small or large primer holes (commercial cases). My question is: Do you need a different sizing die depending on primer hole size? Thanks.

Same sizing die regardless.
Obviously your decapper needs to have a pin that will fit thru the primer hole.

If you are running a bolt gun you can just neck size.
If you are running a gas gun you will probably be best served by full length resizing.

I "uniform" my primer holes if they are too small to use my decapping pin.  I have rarely came across it, but it does sometimes happen (some 22 Hornet cases I have came with small primer holes).
