Three experienced Appleseeders (Ray, Ash, and Andrew), and two first-timers (Jim and Shawn) braved the (very) cold and windy day at the Anne Arundel Fish and Game (AAFG) Conservation Association in Annapolis, MD, for a 1-Day Project Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic.

After the introductions, four key questions, and safety brief, we went right into the first Redcoat target, and we were excited to see everyone pretty close!  As went into the history of April 19th, 1775 during our telling of the "First Strike" of the match, it started snowing!  The Winterseed patch now being an option, students were eager to get to shooting... it was onto prone Steady-Hold Factors (SHF) and putting sighters on the Squares target... and WOW, after a few sighters we were there... this being a One-day event, it was time to move right into Standing and Seated/Kneeling SHF on the Grenadiers (Green Targets), as this group was ready for it!
After some more history at lunch (Second Strike), "I have not a man that is afraid to go!" - (Students were really engaged with the history) we got back to marksmanship training .  We noticed mag changes were a little challenged, so we ran some mag-change drills during Stage 2 & 3 practice.  Huge improvement!  As instruction wrapped up, we moved into our first practice Appleseed Qualification Test (AQT).

First-timer Jim came very close with a 200, and the rest of the shooters had parts of their targets that were very good, but needed to get all 4 stages together.  After another regular AQT - same results, close, but no cigar.  After the telling of the Third Strike and wrapping up the history, we then did our last Redcoat of the day, framed the weekend, and cleaned up.
Unfortunately, no new Riflemen, but I'm sure they will be back, because:

A Rifleman Persists!

Thank you very much to our host range, the Anne Arundel Fish and Game (AAFG) Conservation Association

And last but not least, many thanks to my fellow instructors Etervigila and Aninha
Our Instructor's hard work, and professional demeanor made this a safe and fun shoot.

"The hour is fast approaching, on which the Honor and Success of the Appleseed mission, and the safety of our bleeding Country depend. Remember citizens, that you are free men and women, fighting for the blessings of Liberty; that slavery will be your portion, and that of your posterity, if you do not acquit yourselves like Riflemen." ~ GW & Fred
