Wonderful Ladyseed this weekend at the Port Malabar Rifle Club in Malabar, Fl.
There were 19 ladies who shot this weekend; and as for me it was a great reintroduction back into the Appleseed family. I earned my blue cap and am looking forward to many more shoots this year with Port Malabar Appleseed Program.

What a great weekend we had.  It started out rough.  Cold in the upper 30s and low 40s, almost a frostbite weekend.  Cold, wet, high winds blowing made it difficult to sling up in coats and jackets & almost impossible to operate bolt locks with freezing fingertips.  We weren't sure how it would turn out except it could only get better.   :slap:
19 Brave ladies showed up to shoot and hear some history.  LuAnne, Sheryl, and Sandy overcame everything from rifle malfunctions, ammo issues, sling issues, sand blowing into the chamber, position issues, and too much to mention and yet managed to succeed in improving their scores, positions, and being good role models for everyone else.  They were examples of the phrase, when everything turns to lemons and goes wrong, make lemonade.  Thank you for your grit and spirit and determination.
Danielle, Frances, Ruthy and Mimi showed up, slung up, and surprised us all with some mad skills.  Mimi (11 years old) shot the one-inch squares with all rounds inside the square.  Ruthy's standing position was picture perfect like a model.
Sophia (9) and mom Laura came out and were a blessing to all.  Laura reminded us of the privilege of being an American, and Sophia shared with all her Liberty Kids video of the Day 1 battle on Lexington Green with Capt Parker on her Ipad.  Thanks so much for sharing.
May I say that sometimes we instructors think teaching children to shoot may require a bit more one-on-one instruction?  However, this shoot proved us wrong.  We had Mimi (11), Sophia (9), Justine (11), Ruthy (17), Jasmine (14) and Josie (13) who, after basic instructions, could operate their rifle safely, smoothly and with the dexterity of those who have done it for years.  Way to go girls!  They all earned their Diamond Youth patch.  :1luvu
Katie is an artist who paints really cool patriotic art shown in galleries.  :F She came and cleared the Redcoat target.  Her shooting and positions continuously improved all weekend.  Her laugh and her attitude was contagious.  Oh, and did I mention that she CLEARED the REDCOAT TARGET!  Some try for many Appleseed weekends to do this, and Katie nailed it.  Whoowheee!   ;D
Marian's strengths were her continued support and kind words to everyone.  She was absorbing the instructions and putting it to good use as her scores improved.  We all appreciated her positive attitude.
Jasmine (14 years old) joined in and showed her grandfather David (PMRPC RSO) that she could shoot better than he could.  She did it without words and a smile on her face while he sat in a chair and looked on.  It was a priceless moment when he realized it.  (Caught in pictures)
Three generations, Justine (11), Kristina, and Lorraine (grandmother) came out together.  Justine was so good at making her rifle safe and handling her rifle.  Her artistic rock Ladyseed gifts are a treasure to all of us.  Thank you for your sweet smile and your strength.  Grandma Lorraine was so wonderful.  She went from never having touched a rifle before to shooting marksman and graduating boot camp in only two days.  She never complained and never quit.   :1luvu
Kristina scored Rifleman!  Whoopeeee!  She earned her purple Rifleman patch!  What dedication to learn as a family!   ^:)^
Josie and Trish (mom), came and conquered.  Josie is on the Scholastic Pistol Speed shooting youth team, but was not familiar with the rifle.  :~ Trish came along to learn.  Josie shot so well, that she missed scoring Rifleman by one flyer round on the bottom row Stage Four.  So close.  However, she is only 13 and plans to come to another Appleseed to do it again.  Her mom, Trish, did score Rifleman!  She earned her purple Rifleman patch!  Yay!  Brilliant shooting and strength shown by both of them!   :---   ^:)^
Mary Ann took a Blue hat this weekend.  Not only is she focused on improving her shooting skills, she also runs an online riflery program for homeschoolers and is a history buff with great storyteller skills.  She is such a great addition to our Palm Bay team.   ..:..
Stephanie, IIT came and shot this weekend with her new rifle.  Thanks you for your support and help.  I look forward to seeing you again soon.  @) Many thanks to Rifleman Rose and Liesl Liberty, my super cool daughter and my beloved sister, for working this shoot and contributing so much.  You are both wonderful.  Thanks for travelling so far, Liesl, and contributing such good points and ideas to share.  Thanks also to the guys, TheMenace, Sieggie, Malabar, NomadicHillbilly, Guntuckian, whose kind manner and soft words made learning fun for all.     The Menace and Sieggie even set up for us on Friday.  Thanks are not enough.
Some came to improve their shooting, some came to become great with their rifle, and some came to overcome their fears.  No matter why, everyone had a good relaxed time together, made new friends, and learned a heck of a lot.  Huzzah!  LADYSEEDS ROCK!    ..:.. Until next time, Heidiheidi   :F
