Friday, December 15th (Bill of Rights Day) was a glorious day for Liberty! Corporal Jason and Lieutenant Chris of the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office were joined by liaison officer Matt from the Woodstock Police Department. Three other officers were unable to attend because duty called. And Matt had to quit early because he was the investigator on call. However, because we were doing this Appleseed for 3 seasoned shooters, we were able to condense the instruction dramatically and actually do 3 AQTs before the end of the day. And officer Jason shot a Rifleman score twice! Huzzah! Officer Chris was getting close with a score of 202, and indicated that he will be back! We were able to present the Three Strikes during the day and even do a short KD presentation during lunch. We were able to share the mission of Appleseed and encourage the officers to invite their fellow officers, friends and relatives to sign up. Officer Jason commented that the fundamentals we teach are something every officer could benefit from. During the day (a very cold one), Sheriff Frank Reynolds and Major Cushing stopped by to personally thank us for the event and give each instructor a little gift package from the Sheriff's office. Major Cushing, who attended our first Applseed at the range, told us that he would be signing up his son to attend the one scheduled in April of next year. At the end of the day, Officers Jason and Chris told us how much the history presentations were needed today, especially to the young people, but that they also learned details not known before.
Thanks to Guardian, 6Bones and Luke2236 for turning out to make this an outstanding and memorable day for the attendees. I am encouraged that this is just the beginning of developing a great relationship with the peace officers of Cherokee County, Georgia. We already have two more Appleseed events scheduled next year at this range and will most likely add more.
