We had a small group of students, but it ended up being a fun shoot. Due to a scheduling conflict, we started out on one of the "Cowboy" ranges on Saturday. Things were going great til the afternoon "monsoons" hit us. The shooters handled it with the usual grit and tenacity we've come to expect from those who attend our shoots. Who's afraid of a "little" water and mud? Not us.

Sunday, we shifted down to our old haunt, Area-51. As we had 7 instructors and 4 students, we took advantage of the chance to do some R&D on "Rimfire KD," utilizing the full distance we had, out to 100 meters. A couple of the fellas even shot some enlarged AQT's at 100 meters.

Our 4 students showed a great deal of improvement overall. Lori now has all the keys to improve with dry fire practice and getting used to the sling and positions. Sandra, Bruce and Derek all came up with solid sharpshooter scores. Sandra is right on the bubble of earning the Rifleman patch, so keep shooting "like a girl" and show these fellas how it's done.

Our esteemed AC/RSO, Rebecca, shooting a 219, finally got the Madam Yotnottin patch I had been saving for her. Former shoot boss, Sly223, gave me the last original patch he had, but said she had to shoot score at Myakka to earn it. There were tears when she found out.

In fact, there were tears on several sets of eyes at various times over the weekend, proof of the amount of passion people still have for Liberty in Project Appleseed.

We will be back at Myakka in late January. In the mean time, there are still plenty of shoots at other FL ranges, some not too far away. Hope to see you all back again soon.
"We have always looked upon men as a set of beings naturally free - that a people can never be divested of those invaluable rights and liberties which are necessary to the happiness of individuals, to the well-beings of communities or to a well regulated state, but by their own negligence, imprudence, timidity or rashness. They are seldom lost, but when foolishly forfeited or tamely resigned." ~Jonas Clarke
