Nine shooters made for an active line at the Annapolis, MD Single-day Appleseed rifle marksmanship clinic.
The day was sunny and warm, if maybe a bit sticky. Winds were calm, which made for a great day at the range.
As the first shot couldn't be until 9:00AM, and the students were raring to go by about 8:30, we got the First Strike in early.  We then moved right into the safety brief, and on to our first Redcoat.  Young first-time Appleseeder Eric S cleaned his Redcoat!  We then moved on to putting sighters on the Squares target... we were excited to see rapid progress on this eager group! After some history at lunch, we got back to marksmanship training - as the day progressed, it was apparent that the groups had improved significantly.  Coaching from Steady-Hold Factors (SHF) was fruitful, because the instructor corps was very pleased in the excellent positions we saw, scores improved, people were pleasantly surprised!  We wrapped up the history with the Third Strike, and because it was a one-day event, we had to move along smartly; after a practice AQT and a real one, we had two Riflemen join the Maryland list. Robert S and his Son Eric qualified as Riflemen, and Eric cleaned his Redcoat (again) and Earned a Maryland Front-site patch too!  Nine shooters on the line, two new Riflemen!  All the shooters maintained a fabulous attitude, huge improvements were made, and everybody had fun, too!
Huzzah!
Thank you very much to our host range, the Anne Arundel Fish and Game Association (AAFG) in Annapolis, MD. Check out their website http://www.aafg.org/.

And last but not least, many thanks to my fellow instructors BeSwift and Aninha, whose positive attitudes and professional demeanor made this a safe and successful shoot.
"The hour is fast approaching, on which the Honor and Success of the Appleseed mission, and the safety of our bleeding Country depend. Remember citizens, that you are free men and women, fighting for the blessings of Liberty; that slavery will be your portion, and that of your posterity, if you do not acquit yourselves like Riflemen." ~ GW & Fred

Many thanks to the instructors to yet another great Appleseed. Amazing that you could fit all of the history AND instruction in one day. Sad we missed the dangerous old men, but as we know, "the revolution was won in the hearts and minds," dangerous old men or not.

Eventually I'll get rifleman. Thanks for the tips on at-home mag change drills.
