The Alaska cadre took a little 6 hour drive North last weekend to our beloved Tok, and set up camp on the Tok Shooters Assn range. We arrived to a light rain and did a lot of the initial set up on Friday night. The target line was repaired and the firing line established. This will work if we don't get too much rain.

Saturday dawned overcast and too much rain. Too much rain, and little chance of improvement. Three of my IIT's convinced me that the target line that took hours to establish last year could be moved in less than an hour. Allowing the firing line to move under cover. "Let's make it happen."

Oldmikey kept the shooters occupied with the First Strike as everyone else moved all three of the lines. To my knowledge, the first time that a First Strike was told before rifles even graced the line. The Safety Brief started at 0900 sharp, the first round went down range at 1055, talk about time-monkey. But a fantastic day was had, and stellar attitudes abounded. The shooters all agreed to press on into the evening, and we shut down about 1820. My kind of folks.
The Tok Shooters Assn (TSA) put on incredible lunches for us both days, treated us like royalty, and generally bent over backward to help. Then, just when they couldn't get any cooler, they present us with a modest donation to help offset the expenses of moving the entire cadre 310 miles for 2 days, Huge HUZZAHS to John, Terry, Erica, and all of the TSA,, finally a TSA I can like. These guys rock.

Sunday brought an improvement in the weather but we stayed "as is", due to threatening clouds and the rain was replaced by wind.  In all, a great shoot, a gut-check for a rookie Shoot Boss, an AWESOME crew, old friendships cemented, new friends found.  Oh,, and,,

Two new Riflemen!!  Congrats to Willy M. and Jeff L. and a re-qual for Alaska Rifleman #102 Mickey H. We also came away heavy one Orange Hat;
Huzzah IIT Willy M.

What a hard shoot, what a fun shoot, what a great shoot. I remain impressed by those I chose to surround myself with.

Sounds like an excellent shoot and an outstanding opportunity to adapt, improvise and overcome. Congrats to our new riflemen!!   O0   And thanks, Willy M. for stepping forward. You will learn a lot as you prepare to teach.   :bow:
