Cold and wet describes the weather Saturday morning as the shooters gathered at the Colebrook Range, but the shooters came with bright spirits and teachable attitudes! They made the trip from Georgia well worth every mile.

After our introduction and safety briefing the shooters retrieved their rifles from the vehicles and we began the instruction of the Three Pillars of Marksmanship. The Steady Hold Factors were taught and then the Six Steps of Firing the Shot. And then came Natural Point of Aim. We took our lunch break to hear the 1st Strike of the Match and then continued on with the seated positions. We heard the 2nd Strike of the Match during the afternoon break and then started the AQT. We paused the AQT string of fire at 4:00 so we could pay our tribute to those who fell 242 years earlier on April 19, 1775. I believe that the memorial volley was fitting as we read off some of the names of those who never got to see or experience the liberty that they were so willing to sacrifice for. We then heard the 3rd Strike of the Match and finished off the AQT and then our final Redcoat target for the day.

Congratulations to Gary A. on shooting a 219 to re-qualify as a Rifleman!

Sunday dawned cool but sunny. The returning shooters had a beautiful day ahead of them. We did a quick review of the previous day's instruction and confirmed the 25m zeros on the squares targets before posting our first AQT. That AQT revealed a re-qual score from Craig A. and we found a new Rifleman, Joe C. who turned in a target that scored 211 and a subsequent target that scored 213! Huzzah!!

At lunch we heard some stories of Dangerous Old Men. We also had a brief discussion on actual distance and then moved the target line out to 100 yards. The shooters shot their groups and then we did our Inches/Minutes/Clicks on those targets and discovered that what works at 25m does actually work out to known distances!

Along with our new Rifleman we also had two shooters step up and ask if they could help. So it was my honor to issue two new Orange Hats! One for Craig A. and the other for Gary A. Huzzah!!

I do thank all of the shooters and the other volunteers who made this weekend the success that it was. It is quality people like these that make me and my family actually look forward to the drive from North Georgia. Thank you!!

Please post your comments and photos if you have them(I don't think that I took a single picture :-[). I'm sure others would love to share in this experience!

A big thank you to Morpheus and family for the trek north to run this event. Very much appreciated.

Also to the Ct IT crew who worked the shoot, all of the attendees were pleased with the efforts of those who volunteered.

Nice job on the pics and link Scout74, the visual end of things I need to work on myself.  :sos:

TheG-Man has added another video to facebook. It is Shooter Trevor, a junior, shooting my M1ASS. Great video, and it was a great tool to get Trevor back on track on day 2, his focus and attention to detail were on point after 3 rounds! He finished the day with a 175 on his 10/22, probably should have let him fire it earlier!!
