We all know who William Dawes is. Like Paul Revere, Dawes was instrumental in alarming the countryside as to dispatching of the regulars.

What may not be known to Nebraskans is that our 6th governor, James W. Dawes is the great-grandson of William Dawes. James W. Dawes was governor from 1883 to 1887. Dawes County Nebraska, home to our very own Pine Ridge Puma, is named for governor Dawes.

This would be a nice connection for Nebraska Appleseeders to bring up during history presentations, as it shows the even states further west are in some way connected to the Sons of Liberty.

I just thought I would mention it.
