What happened to the challenge coins?
« on: September 05, 2015, 03:08:14 PM »
What happened to them? Are the coming back at all?
I would use them at my shoots as a motivator and have given my last one away.

So what is the story?

A moral compass provides a basis for making decisions; an action is good or bad, right or wrong when viewed in the light of the individual's moral bearing. If no moral compass exists for the individual, then decisions and actions are made on the basis of purely subjective thoughts. This leads to "If it makes me happy, or makes me feel good, or if it's something I simply want to do, then it is right and good."

Suggest a PM to Lawrence.. if anybody knows, it'd be him...

Per PM with Lawrence,

- Inventory was exhausted after the rebranding alignment
- Original designers no longer active in the program

Opportunity here?

We can update them with the new logo and reorder. I'll check into it and report back.

Bump.  What's the status?

These were a cool prize for requal rifleman.

Would love to see them back with the new branding.

I've only ever given these out to those who qualify rifleman at KD with irons.

It's a challenge coin.  If you want to get one from me, you have to beat my challenge.   >:D

I've contacted the company who did our previous challenge coins and am waiting to hear back from them.  The current coin looks good (shown below).  I would suggest replacing the apple on the back with the new logo.  Other than that, it doesn't look like there's much more that needs to be done with it.  I'll report back when we have some details on pricing and availability.

Just curious as to why we would take the apple off the back of the coin.  As is, the coin is not tied to a given logo and does not need to be changed every time we change the logo like we have done with shirts, hats, etc. It seems to me avoiding that expense allows us to put resources elsewhere.

I say don't change the coin. The Apple works with Appleseed. Are we going to start calling it the redcoat seed? As is the coin represents everything that we are. I have personally given out more than 40 of these coins and I assure you that those who received them value them greatly. Regards, Two Wolves  :cool2:

`Orale!!! Y'all!!!  :cool2: I got my challenge coin from Two Wolfs, it is highly cherished, and with me everyday.

The apple is what sets this coin apart from others I have seen. People ask, what is the apple all about ? And that starts the conversation. ^-^

You know what we say down south "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". ;D

SO DON'T CHANGE IT!!! !@#)

The challenge coin vendor has confirmed that they no longer have the die from which our coin was made.  We will need to submit a new file and pay for a new die.  We can produce the coin as is, but we need the original file.  If we can't locate the file, we will need to redesign the coin (using the same design elements).

If anyone knows where the original file is, please send it to me.  Thanks.

I would agree with replacing the apple to something more relevant.

Bump because that's the kind of guy I feel like today.

Did we ever find the original file?  If not, is there any consideration with moving forward with a new design?

I was just on the store today looking for one... Great to hear our volunteers are working on it. Thanks, Appleseeders!

Just an update on the coins ... we have the design and sent it to a coin vendor. The first prototype didn't meet our quality standards, so we're still working with that and other vendors. The coin should be available this spring.

Would you be willing to name names via PM?  I could ask around and see who made our department challenge coin.
