A small but ready group of shooters attended this past weekend's event at the NWCSA in Colebrook. Everyone was prepared, and that did a lot to make the shoot run well, almost too well, Even the threat of rain/storms did little to dampen their enthusiasm.

The AM redcoat showed that several knew what they were about, and this was by 1st time attendees, with one exception. The fundamentals were well covered, the shooters applied them and we ran at the standard fire hose pace. Really!

The club was a little late in getting lunch ready, which meant more POI's and trigger time before a regular break. All this added up to AQT's being fired by lunchtime! HUZZAH! Lunch from the grill and heavyduty77's first strike during made the extra busy morning all but a memory.

By mid afternoon we had covered the 2nd strike, a few more AQT's and finished the day with the pm redcoat. The difference mostly in that all who fired made it at some level.

We also had our first Rifleman of the weekend. George, our one repeat shooter who had closed in on it in the past hammered it with a 225. HUZZAH! Several other shooters were in the 180-190's and one a 208.  ~~:) Looked like the IT crew were going to bear down a little harder for Sunday. :cool2:

Sunday started rainy/misty but cleared off by mid morning to AQT's and afterwards a host of drills. Many shooters improved throughout the day and another Rifleman was made. Ken, who had been the fastest in acquiring sitting and getting on target, needed a minor adjustment to get over the hurdle and he did it with room to spare and a 220 for his efforts. Great job! Brian pushed it with a 204.

We also had an unannounced family visit during the day. A mom and 3 little ones wanted to check out  the facilities. This they did with no complaints from us. A family of bears, as in BLACK BEARS strolled across the range in between target lines. Fortunately there were no remote possible chances of injury (for them or us) and no pics, sorry.

A big thanks goes to Northwestern Ct. Sportsman's Assn. for use of the range and facilities. They have been a strong supporter of Appleseed in Ct for 5 years now, it's great to have them on board.

The shooters did extremely well, all were safe and this did so much to have the event run as smooth as it did. Josh even ran 1 1/2 days with ammo/magazine and sighting issues and hung tough for the duration. Perseverance my friend....

And a huge thank you to the crew, freedomwon, Heavyduty77 and CTCoyote for making things run well, give instruction, keep an eye out and all the other things a shoot boss needs to have for a great, well functioning shoot. It doesn't happen without folks like these.
