What a great weekend, 20 shooters on the line all eager to soak up the instruction. This was the first sold out shoot at this range for a year and a half or more. All of the shooters had enough 22lr for the weekend. I believe the great turnout re-invigorated the crew that was growing tired and discouraged with the low turnout at recent shoots. The range owner who is also an IIT in the program was very pleased with the turnout. We had one new rifleman Justin who accepted the orange hat and one returning rifleman Diana who shot five qualifying AQT's in row with scores ranging from the mid 220's to the high 230's. It was a humbling experience watching this young woman's skill and determination. We had several shooters that topped off in the 190's, they just need to hone their skills with dry fire practice at home. After asking to become an orange hat after the shoot on Saturday I presented Justin the hat Sunday morning and he spent the rest of the day showing what an asset he will be as an instructor. The weather played a part in the weekend, not a cloud in the sky, temperatures on Sunday in the mid to upper 90's was enough to sap the energy out of everyone, instructors and shooters alike. My thanks go out to the always great crew, Debby, Mike, Joe, Robert, Justin #1 and my wife Sheri for the admin duties on Saturday and a guest appearance to present the second strike by Justin #2, Justin is a Red hat in the program but is also a range employee. I did not have time to take pictures but others did and I look forward to seeing them posted here. Thanks Again to everyone involved, Norm

A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.

Yes indeed - it was a GREAT weekend! Thanks so much to all the students who filled the line. You are the reason we do Appleseed. Thanks also to the instructors for sharing your knowledge & most importantly, keeping everyone safe!

Congrats to Justin for shooting Rifleman on Saturday and accepting the Orange hat on Sunday! Congrats, also, to Diana for your consistency as a Rifleman. Hard to believe, at an Appleseed a little over a year ago, you first fired a gun. There is no doubt your dad is proud!

Until next time, stay safe! We look forward to having you all back at L. E. Duncan's Rainbow Shooting Range!
