Saw some 11173 Ruger 10-22 on Gun Broker so they must be out now, only a few listings on there though.

Hardbean

Is there anyway to find if local dealers recieved the Appleseed version?  From what I'm seeing, all 10/22's made this year will be 50th anniversary editions but not all are the design contest style.  Can Ruger release that info?

Ruger only knows what is shipped to the distributors.  A local dealer would only receive them if they were special ordered from the distributors. http://www.lipseys.com/itemdetail.aspx?itemno=RUK1022-50YR

They are showing up in stores and people are buying them. Someone posted a picture of theirs on Rimfirecentral.com.

And no, Ruger never did get back to me an invite me to the factory for the production run like they were supposed to. Kind of sucks that they haven't fulfilled their obligation.

On Gunbroker they are selling for over MSRP.

Very disappointing you didn't get your trip to see production.   :(

I got one from my local gun shop that he ordered in for me.  However, I am having trouble with it and it is going back to Ruger for diagnosis and repair/replacement.

I was going to use it as my backup rifle when I go to my first Appleseed.  Looks like that backup will have to be my CZ 452 FS.

ETA:  If they offer this stock as and accessory or aftermarket item, I'll buy one for the wood stocked rifle in the back.  It fits me so much better than the original carbine stock and feels great in hand.  The ergonomics on the rifle are great.

How does the rear sight adjust for windage and elevation?  Does it come with an extra cheek rest?

It showed 75 in stock when I went to buy mine, and when I was done there were 0 available.

And for anyone interested - $308 out the door...includes all taxes, fees, shipping, background check, etc.

Hmm, back down to zero in under 90 minutes.

Well, the good news is that they are apparently selling well, so Ruger should be happy with that.    Perhaps Ruger will add it to their permanent lineup.

Took way less than 90 minutes. I got the stockwatch notification at 8:11 and there were 75. It took me a couple minutes to get it ordered (had to log in, then redo the search to be able to add it to be purchased). In those couple minutes it then showed 35. By the time I got my order placed and received my invoice at 8:17 they had 0 available.

I tried to order one when I saw the stock watch notice, but none left  :-[
You know what I really want is that stock for my spare LTR - I hope they decide to make it available through Shop Ruger.

Examined one today, the elevation looks to adjusted by turning the peep/ghost ring similar to the adjustment on XS peep/ghost ring sights. The windage looks to be adjusted by loosening 2 opposed small allen set screws in the base moving the sight and tightening the screws back. It comes with 1 straight and 1 with a riser.

It uses the same butt as the Ruger 10/22 American. The LOP can changed by loosening the rear swivel popping off the but assembly and swapping it out.

If you don't mind. What was wrong with the ruger 50th anniversary rifle that your sending it back?

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to this thread.  The reason for the return is the rifle would not zero with the sights as shipped.  I have an idea about what was wrong, but felt that Ruger should address it.  They can't fix quality/workmanship problems they don't know about.

Anyway, the rifle shot acceptable groups, but 3in. low and 2 in left with the rear sight maxed out in both elevation and windage.  That's why it went back.  We'll see if they fix it when it gets back.  They are taking the week of the 4th off, so I won't see it until late July probably.

As far as adjustment is concerned, the two set screws in the sight position the sight, by loosening one side and tightening the other.  I think the two screws also lock the vertical adjustment as well.  The aperture post screws up or down by turning it.

I think the front portion of the scope base was bearing hard on the barrel pushing it down which would also exacerbate any tendency of the barrel clamp to pull it down as well.  It should be easily fixed.  In my photo the original carbine with the Nodak sights is not centered windage wise either.  I don't have an explanation for that.  It is in the opposite direction than the new rifle.

I gotta get some practice in with the CZ FS as it will have to become my backup rifle until such time as the new Ruger gets back.

The new stock is great.

I picked one up today.  It is a sharp looking rifle, feels good in the hands, and I think it could be a great option for those who want a rifle that can be Appleseed-ready without any gunsmithing.  Just throw some swivels and a sling on it, grab an extra mag, and you're in business.

Though they are more complicated to adjust than Tech Sights, the sights accomplish the main goals of delivering peep sights, a longer sight radius, and being fully adjustable for windage and elevation.  They are infinitely better than factory 10/22 notch sights.

Unfortunately the stock insert with the raised cheek piece doesn't fit me at all.  The cheek piece doesn't extend forward far enough... the spot where my cheek rests is forward of the raised area, making it pointless (and uncomfortable) for me.  It ought to be fine for shorter-necked folks, but if I ever want to scope this, it will be pipe foam and vet wrap for me!  Oh well, I will almost certainly just be leaving it with iron sights and using it for training and as a loaner for Appleseeds.  I'm looking forward to putting some rounds through it.

Great job putting together the design, Gary!

"Of liberty I would say that, in the whole plenitude of its extent, it is unobstructed action according to our will. But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. Ordered from my Local Gun Shop, while still at the NRA convention.

Arrived on Saturday, slow day at the sportsmens club, so why not go try them out.

After a quick spray of CLP and a bore snaking or two, lets go to the line...

Selfies, no.   SLING-fies, YES.

And of course, with a short handy, Irons/optics rifle set up for a sling, you've got to pay homage to Col. Cooper....

Two is one, One is none.

Impressions, Both needed windage adjustment, of course I brought no tools, so that will have to wait to another day.  Both were 4MOA or less out of the box.  (I am rusty after the winter and need to shoot more)

Great Sight Picture, Trigger is the stock polymer group (I prefer the older metal trigger group).  It took me a few seconds to remember the stock bolt hold open/release manipulation, as being a lefty, I've replaced all my other 10/22s to auto releases.

The rear sight is attached with an additional separate threaded hole in the receiver, which means you could remove the rear sight if you had an optic that interfered with it, without losing or loosening the rail.

All in all, a great offering from Mac66 and Ruger for their 10/22 lineup.  (FYI, I like the 10/22 as a platform and should have probably invested in Ruger stock when I started this Appleseed journey)

So you are the one that left the AQT on the table.....

A student brought one to the line this past weekend.  It looked good.  Wasn't overly excited about the windage adjustment (two opposing threated hex head screws), but the aperature is whole lot better than the alternative buckhorn abomination.  The adjustable LOP is a great step forward too.  Just wish they would have done something with the bolt release lever.

I had the "bolt release" conversation with the Prez and CEO of Ruger at the NRA convention. The CEO scratched his head and asked "yeah,  why don't we fix that?"   "Uh........the lawyers" says the Prez.  "Oh yeah" replied the CEO.  I said, "It only took you 40 years to fix the mag release, maybe in another 40 you'll fix the bolt release".  ::)

Thus, and not otherwise, may we be able to assist in preserving peace in the world... The first step in the direction of preparation to avert war if possible, and to be fit for war if it should come is to teach men to shoot." -Theodore Roosevelt

olefido

Fellow brought one to the range the other day while I was there. He let me put about 20 rds through it. I had an AQT on the target backer and I aimed for the sighter square in the upper right. I used a six o'clock hold and the rifle printed a good group just off the edge of the paper. No elevation adjustment was needed and I estimated it was about 10 MOA to the right. None of the allen screws I had in my kit was small enough to fit in the sight to adjust the windage. SBs need to have a set of very small allen wrenches to adjust these if the shooter doesn't have one.

Other than that, the trigger did seem a lot stiffer than mine but that just could be the newness. The LOP and comb height were fine for the peep sight for me. I liked it but I would take my broken in and familiar 10/22 any day of the week.
