Unbridled Liberty

On Armed Forces Day, Saturday May 17th, 2014, nine Americans gathered at the Adair County Sportsmen's Club in Columbia, KY to learn more about their heritage of rifle marksmanship, as well as their heritage of Liberty.  On Sunday, eight shooters returned for more AQT's and some KD shooting.  Tremendous improvement was seen from Saturday morning's Redcoat target  compared to Sunday afternoon's Redcoat!

Ernie once again showed he knows how to take good care of his children by bringing Andy and Liz.  Andy requalified with a 229, and Liz shot extremely well.  Andy challenged himself by shooting a bolt action tube-fed rifle that is older than he is.  Good seeing you all again!  Alan was also a previous attendee; good seeing you again as well!

First-time attendee Ben camped with TheInfamousJay and myself on Friday and Saturday nights and we had a delightful time of food and fellowship around the campfire.  Thank you Ben for the delicious meals and stories, and much thanks for letting others shoot your Lee Enfield and also for providing the interesting history of your rifle.  It seems that you have a talent for teaching and storytelling.  O0

Other first time attendees were Tom, Mike and Nathan.  Nathan qualified Rifleman with a 219 (correct me if I'm wrong on that score) on Saturday!  HUZZAH!  Nathan also made a first-round hit on a 4 MOA balloon at 100 yards on Sunday afternoon.   O0  Mike was very close to Rifleman despite magazine and walking scope issues.   :wb:  Tom spent the weekend adapting his muscle memory from the other venues he normally participates in, as well as entertaining us with his unique sense of humor.   O0  Steve attended his last Appleseed clinic in 2008, and he commented on the many changes to the program in that time.  He persisted through Saturday but was not able to return on Sunday.

Thanks to each and every one of you.  Everyone is invited to post here about your Appleseed experience.  And many thanks to our host, the Adair County Sportsmen's Club for the use of your wonderful facility.  And my thanks to TheInfamousJay for your consistent support .  Long live Liberty!  Long Live the Republic!

Please attend another Appleseed clinic and bring at least two new people with you. Here is the 2014 Kentucky schedule:

Help Project Appleseed:
Promote Project Appleseed on your Facebook page.  Kentucky's page is: https://www.facebook.com/KentuckyRifleman
If you have shot a Rifleman score (210 points or greater on the AQT test), become an RWVA Instructor in Training (aka Orange Hat).  If you have not yet shot a Rifleman score, join Applecore (aka Blue Hats) and help at shoots with check in, range safety and other duties, or help behind the scenes with promotional efforts.  We will find a place for you if you volunteer!

A few ideas on how to help your community, state and nation:
First, start at home: Be a good spouse and parent. "Take good care of the children".  Make sure your household is prepared for natural disasters.
Then, get involved in your community: Be a good neighbor and watch out for each other. Become a block captain for your neighborhood. Organize a neighborhood watch program.   Build wheelchair ramps for the disabled, and meet other special needs in your community.  Attend school board and town council meetings, or better yet, run for a position!  Get involved in your local Community Emergency Response Team

Write letters and make phone calls about issues that concern you.  I have been informed by people in the know in Frankfort that when the capitol switchboard gets 1 telephone call for or against a certain issue, they multiply that by 14,000!  That's about the same as the number of militia that turned out by April 20, 1775!  And this is for the little ol' state of Kentucky.  Imagine what multiplier they use when you call Washington, DC!  You can be an army of one simply by voicing your concerns and opinions to your lawmakers!

I had a great time, learned a lot about shooting and our country's history.

Unbridled Liberty did a FANTASTIC job with the shoot!  He was very passionate about the history, painting a picture so I felt like I was there.  TheInfamousJay was great comic relief, and very helpful with 10/22's!

I definitely will be back!  Hope to be at Knob Creek in June.

Many thanks to Unbridled Liberty and theinfamousjay for fantastic riflemanship instruction and stories of the Day Liberty began to defeat Tyranny. Just finished "Paul Revere's Ride" and recommend it to all who leave boredom and their country.

We at Adair Co. Sportsmen's Club hope to see more Project Appleseed events here in the future.
