CONSIDERING THE WEATHER, IT WAS A GREAT TURN OUT. WE WERE ABLE TO GET ALL THREE STRIKES, PATRIOT VOLLEY, AND THREE TIMED AQTS BY FIVE PM. ALL THE STUDENTS SEEM TO BE MOVED BY THE THREE STRIKES AND ALL WERE EXCITED ABOUT COMING BACK TO ANOTHER AS EVENT. THANKS TO PROFESSOR dond, I USED HIS DAY ONE INSTRUCTION AND COURSE OF FIRE, THE SIGHTER GROUPS WERE SO GOOD I SKIPPED CARDING THE SIGHTS AND BALL AND DUMMY. THE FIRST AQT WE GOT A RIFLEMAN BY A FIRST TIME ATTENDEE, AND A REQUALIFIED BY A SHOOTER THAT HAD NOT SHOT AT APPLESEED IN A YEAR. WE GOT ANOTHER REQUALIFY WHO ALSO TOOK AN ORANGE HAT, AND 2 MORE RIFLEMEN IN THE NEXT TWO AQTS. PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING, dond's INSTUCTION TECHNIQUES WORK. I BELIEVE IF WE HAS A SECOND DAY OF AQTS, THE NUMBERS WOULD HAVE BEEN ASTOUNDING. WE HAD THE BEST BUNCH OF SHOOTERS EVER. THE INSTRUCTORS KEPT UP WITH THE CHANGE IN INSTRUCTION AND PERFORMED WITH PROFESSIONALISM AND DEDICATION.
Dusty old helmet, rusty old gun,
They sit in the corner and wait –
Two souvenirs of the Second World War
That have withstood the time, and the hate.
Many times I've wanted to ask them –
And now that we're here all alone,
Relics all three of a long ago war –
Where has freedom gone?
Mute witness to a time of much trouble,
Where kill or be killed was the law –
Were these implements used with high honor?
What was the glory they saw?
Freedom flies in your heart like an eagle.
Let it soar with the winds high above
Among the spirits of soldiers now sleeping,
Guard it with care and with love.
I salute my old friends in the corner.
I agree with all they have said –
And if the moment of truth comes tomorrow,
I'll be free, or By God, I'll be dead!

A big thank you to all the Appleseed folks for all your hard work in putting together a great event.  Thanks to all the shooters who took time from a holiday weekend in crummy weather for reinforcing the fact that we are not sunk yet. All your efforts lit a fire in two more Patriots who are not content to remain cooks. Until next time....

Had a great time, learned a lot, and got a new hat to wear so getting out in the rain was worth it! Thanks to every one of the instructors for there help, maby I can return the favor some day.
