Folks,

It's official: Port Malabar Rifle and Pistol Club will be hosting a known distance Appleseed in 2014 in late Spring.  The event will be held on the only competition-certified 600-yard range in Florida.

The shoot will be open to instructors and anyone who has already earned the coveted Rifleman's patch. 

Event will be shot with centerfire rifles at 100, 200, 300 and 400 yards.

We hope to have the indefatigable PHenry running the event.

This will be a great (and rare) opportunity to hone your skills at actual distance.  Will post further info as it becomes available.

This one I will attend. Period. Don't nobody schedule nothin' else for that date! Much as I would like to shoot the whole thing with an iron sighted M1 Garand, I believe I will gracefully accept aging and used a scoped rifle.

9mm4545, quit cryin' about being able to see, you have a scope for that Garand, quit being cheap!
A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.

We're calling it for the weekend of May 31-June 1st.

It's a fifth weekend, so it does not conflict with any regular competitions.

That also means you can get up early Sunday morning and go to the swap meet at the gun club -- kind of a flea market for gun enthusiasts.
