I've been subscribing to the NRA's Shooting Sports USA since it went digital and FREE a few years ago. It's always been in the past a bit "inside baseball" as far as the content goes, just mostly covering the events or equipment. But for the past few months they have been publishing more instructive pieces and more historical background stories, like the one's you listed. The magazine has become a much more interesting read and it's FREE.
"When men's rules are Honorable and Just I will follow them. When I find the laws tolerable, I will tolerate them. When I find the rules obnoxious, I will ignore them. When I find evil imposed or codified, I will War against it. My Lord has made it known and understood to me that to accept the gift of freedom I will alone bear the full responsibility everything I do, or chose not to do." I .......    "This is Appleseed. We are here to restore the Republic. Tyrants, major or petty, need not apply."  I .......

Is there a faster way to read that? Maybe a PDF download? It's painful slow to read on my computer.

Go to the link and then the upper right corner.  The 5th button in from the upper right corner will allow you to download the entire magazine, to be read at your leisure.

Sadly, that is a terrible reading experience. The magazine doesn't fit on my monitor and the sound of a faux page turning doesn't improve the content at all.

I'll get UL to give me the basic outline of the story next time I see him.

There's a PDF in there somewhere at the bottom of that pile.  Just keep clicking.  I downloaded it to read it.
"It is an uphill struggle, but I wish that we could distinguish more carefully between freedom and liberty. These conditions are not the same, though they are certainly related. Freedom is the absence of restraint - a physical circumstance. Liberty, on the other hand, is a political situation denoting the lawful capability of the citizen to defend himself and his near and dear without interference from the state. Note that the Declaration of Independence forcibly and particularly establishes the blessings of liberty upon ourselves and our posterity. I like to carry a pocket copy of the Declaration, plus the Constitution, in my travels. It is a good thing to have in hand when discussions arise."

Sorry Jake.  I have attached the sling article in PDF.  If that works for you I can do the First M1A Shoot article or even the whole issue.

Why are you apologizing?  ;D  You didn't do anything wrong.

Thanks, that will read just fine on my computer at home.
