I'm planning on attending my first Appleseed in a few weeks. I was wondering if anybody else was planning on going to the Piru event on Jan 19/20? Does anybody know if they also help you with sighting in your rifle? I'm not sure if mine is set right. I have a Marlin 795 with tech sights.

We'll not only help you get it sighted in, we'll teach you how to do it.  795 with Tech-sights is an excellent choice for a first 'seed.   O0  If it's a new rifle, get a few rounds through it before the shoot to make sure it's functioning OK.
