To all Appleseeders:

Trying to pull together the current Appleseed venues that offer distances in excess of 300 yards.  If your state has one, please respond to this thread with the range name*, maximum distance available, and the number of shooters that it can accommodate at one time.
*= Please list the range name as it appears on eventbrite

Thank you for your prompt attention,

Current active venues:

Sierra Vista:  400 yards, 40 shooters?  But must collaborate with RSO on neighboring range when shooters go downrange past 200 yards.

Young: 500 yards, 10 shooters.  But not July-Feb.  Either too much grass (July-Oct), or too cold (Nov-Feb).  May should be perfect.  Very remote location.

Kingman: 500 yards, 20 shooters.

Rio Salado: 500 yards, 15 shooters on High Power range.  But, can only shoot 100/200/500.  300/400 is not available.

Thanks AZRedhawk!

Ranges added to the list.

Looks like Kingman is the range with the least 'issues' for shooting KD, right?

There are a few other ranges as well in AZ with the distance. Getting weekend access is the Rub. Also Kingman to Phoenix is 200 miles, Kingman to Tucson is 300 miles. Those being the major Population centers in Arizona.

Kingman to Las Vegas is 100 Miles.

On the outskirts of Arizona, Flagstaff, Safford, and other areas are getting ranges and or improving them. I'll try to get to a few in the coming months and do a range report.

That said, AZRedhawk was 100% on the ranges we use with any regularity and Kingman is the best range for our needs...it is just far away.

It even has good wind !!! :slap:

There are many things talked about that make the people of the US
different; being riflemen is one, asking why is another, as is getting
what needs doing done.

The 7 Mile Hill Range at Kingman is a truly wonderful place for KD - they have a 500yd silhouette range *and* another KD range marked from 200 out to 1,000yds.  One minor issue - Summer months can be brutally hot, and summer monsoon carries the possibility of sudden lightening storms with no effective shelter available other than cars.  Best scheduled October through May.

Also, next month we're running our first ever event at the Marana Shooting Club just North of Tucson, which features a 400yd bay.  We're just starting our relationship with that facility, so we'll have a better idea in a few weeks if there are any issues to consider for a KD event there.
Talk is cheap because the supply exceeds the demand.

Do or do not - there is no "try."'  -Yoda
