It's with Great Joy I am being permitted to write this AAR
on Rotterdam's Shoot. The weather worked with us, was
HOT, there was a slight breeze that took the edge off. ^:)^

Great people showed up for the event, Shooters and Instructors.
Sgt Rock also stopped by Saturday morning to say hello,
always a pleasure to be in his company. He was waiting at the
range Saturday morning with a smile on his face, knowing
Sgt Rock he was out waking the birds when he got there. :cool2:

The shooters in their own right proved to be people that know
what they are about. All listening intently to all instruction and
history.  O0

Matthew brought his Uncle Bill to the line, both smiling after each
Course, they only attended Saturday, I welcome them both back
anytime. Nice people. Justin and Joel, both saying little and
I believe both had head aches applying instruction so hard. :wb:  Joel,
204..... That's all I'm saying. Justin, hope to see you again at a shoot.

Casey and Frank, both were striving to out do one another. AND
both had their scores increase in each course of fire. Again, both
were only one day shooters, I look forward to seeing them again. ~~:)

Lloyd and Ethan on the left side of the line; nice work by both.
Lloyd attended a program here before and was discouraged,
I never thought he would return, PROVED ME WRONG... ;D
Stay with it, practice drying firing.

:~   :--- For the Rifleman Commuters:cool2:Gary scraping his knees coming
up with a 219 backing it up with a 226, Murph - you did it, 211,
nice, took a few Appleseeds, but you made the mark... Gunny,
what am I going to do with you, countless Appleseeds, shooting
Rifleman every AQT, and you can't get above, mid 240's, I
know you can smell that 250 score, hope I am there when it happens.
Again, Gunny every time he was on the mat came up Rifleman.
The Rifleman Patches presented were Christened with water that flowed
under the North Bridge.

This Range was limited to 100 yards and 22 rim fire only, All
shooters stepped up, after KD did their come ups, and guess what,
they were on the money. 22's at 100 yards and paying off... :--- :~

Everyone needs to practice Dry Firing and that NPOA Shift,
all the while think of those 6 Step to Firing the Shot. You
Instructors too.
:wb: :wb:

On that, Thank You to the Instructor Cadre: Little Mo, The Mrs,
Nortatoga, CAPshooter and MPH_VT. One never knows where
Alan will show up. Nice Work and Good Job.

Special thanks to Iroquois Rod and Gun, beautiful range, open
to Appleseed, and the people, very nice.  O0

Nice report Top

Rotterdam has a nice facility there,

Nice group of Patriots as well

Its cool to take .22's beyond 25yds, I use them to practice for high power out to 200, really makes you work on the fundamentals, and keeps you up on IMC and reading the wind.

Great job guys and gals

QuoteLloyd attended a program here before and was discouraged,

Mark,

While I was a little discouraged when I attended my first shoot in May it was mostly due to my own choices and disappointment in what I was able to execute that day.  I had intentionally tried to challenge myself by trying to use iron sights the first time - unfortunately all I had was Ruger stock sights that are just not up to the task. [I had actually has a scope on my rifle before my first shoot but removed them to go with the ion sights.] I took it as a challenge to make some small changes and come back again.
I knew I was coming back - I even bought the ROC at the end of that first day of classes.

This time I accepted that my sights are no good, and my eyes are getting old, and went with the simple scope. It did help with adjustments but the shooting was still challenging.

My best AQT for the day (the only one I actually had scored) was 203. Considering how poorly I was shooting most of the weekend I was very happy to get the 203!

I think I shot about 500rds on day 2 alone. I think that may be a record for me.

Not sure when - but I will be back.

Thanks for running a fun and educational few days. You guys(and gals) do a great job.

Another great Appleseed event at an excellent range - Iroquois Rod and Gun Club! A huge thank you to all the members and officers at the club to allow us to give another outstanding marksmanship & history clinic!

As R1SGX2 mentioned, the temperature got hot on both days. Both days the shooters and instructors looked like they might start to melt in the afternoon. But they perservered and got better!

Matthew had that eagerness to learn and that spilled over to his Uncle Bill. Casey and Frank soaked up as much instruction as they could (like drinking water from a fire hose!). These first time shooters learned alot. I look forward to see them on the line again to learn and shoot more. Despite a torn small calf muscle from a day or so before, Ethan kept at it and improved steadily on Sunday, as did Justin and Joel. Lloyd surpised himself with a 203!

Remember to practice getting your NPOA, practice dry-firing, practice shifting your NPOA to each target, and the 6 steps for firing the shot. Trust NPOA and believe in it because it works.

Congratulations to Gunny, Gary (the other Gary, not me!), and Murph (who surprised himself with a 211) for shooting the Rifleman score!

Thank you to the instructors - R1SGX2, The Mrs., Notatoga, CAPShooter, and MPH_VT! O0

Growing old is mandatory; Growing up is optional!  :)

Marksmanship can be taught and learned,
but the motivation has to be inspired for the
people to become involved.
How many have you inspired that became involved?

Photo_guy, thank you for signing on, you should navigate the site, allot of good information here.
You will not be disappointed. A 203 is nothing to be disappointed at, that goes for you to Joel with
your 204, both of you are knocking at the door. I see Rifleman in the making.

QuoteI think I shot about 500rds on day 2 alone. I think that may be a record for me.
Yeah, we had a slow day because of the heat. Stay with it, I look forward to seeing you soon.

Congrats to all our great shooters and staff.  You came to learn, and learn you did!  From our young shooters who came to learn a brand new skill to Gunny.  Wow, what you can say about this man.  It is an honor!

It is an honor to work with these great Americans.  To share the facts of what happened on that long ago day.  To see the twinkle in the eyes of those who are first timers as they hear of the sacrifices our foreparents made for us.

So dryfire, dryfire, dryfire.  TRIGGER CONTROL ~~:)  And honor the sacrifices that were made for us by becoming involved in whatever way you believe is best.

Here are some pics of the weekend.

Hear with love and truth
And come from the heart, with love, and truth, and honor.

Gunny likes setting the pace, even running out to the 100 and back.

Thought MPH_VT was seen running around with a clicker.  :pop:

This was one perfect Appleseed weekend. The weather was fine and every shooter was focused.

We started off with the 1st Strike, what better incentive.

There were no extremes on this day.  Everyone seemed to be steadfast and intent.

All had appropriate personal goals in mind and were fastidious in applying the techniques demonstrated.

We had some riflemen, but beyond that there was overall steady progress and many scores over 200.  A fine endeavor by all the shooters.

Sorry this has been so long in coming, I've been very under the weather.

Remember NPOA.
