So I've been watching The Andy Griffith Show all the way through after Andy Griffith passed away. Well, I just came across a fun little clip I thought you all might enjoy from Season 3, Episode 23 - Andy Discovers America:

Sheriff Taylor tells about Paul Revere's Ride
Foppish Dandy, Mr. Dandy, Señor Dandy, Capt'n Dandy

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
- Benjamin Franklin (Notes for a proposition at the Pennsylvania Assembly, 1775)

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom — go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!"
- Samuel Adams (Speech, State House of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, August 1, 1776)

"What's the weather got to do with it, lets go."
"Appleseed, where good people come together to save a nation."

Thanks for that FD.  It was a good way to start off the day, with a chuckle ;D

Love the part about not being interested in history.
"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value."   T Paine

Enjoyed watching the clip.
Thanx for posting O0

Interestlingly he used the term "The british are coming"  which is what I always thought was said  ;D

It may be fun to examine the positives and negatives of this piece. The imagery was great ! horses ears back etc.
If we look carefully into media portrayals of events we may get insight into how we learn things which are truthfull and valid and those that are designed to mislead .
Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

Thanks!
I needed that for a laugh! O0  Great series too.

Lots of between the line lessons here.
It is amazing how little we (or at least the script writers) know of our heritage. :-[
The kids were glued to the story teller and could hardly contain themselves as to what was coming next.
A good story teller can do that with any audience and any topic. ;)

So true TG ^5
Those who would desire USA w/o constutional guarentee's of liberty can spin some great yarns too.

For an insight into some belief systems,mis-information and good logic can be observed !@ wwwcalguns.net. It  has some varied views on different topics .
The "off topic lounge " shows many different models for viewing life.

I do not use my AS name on CGs  forum as it would reflect on the AS program and likely turn off some who may hear about AS  somewhere else.

The calguns 2a section also discusses and informs californians and forum readers of californa's gun laws and tactics we try to negate from law.

JA,
yes you are skirting the boundries,  but what you posted  is harmless enough.
