I've ordered two of the hoods.

I intend to use one on a spare US Enfield rear sight and the other will be reserved based on results of the Enfield trial.

The reason for putting one on my Eddystone?  So I can install one of the B. Jones sight inserts in it so I can SEE THE FRONT SIGHT.  A nice sharp, in focus, front sight beats the heck out of that (left to right) fuzzy shadow, clear post, fuzzy shadow thing I see these days.

I have a B. Jones sight insert in my "shooter" M1 and it works great.  We'll let you know how it turns out.

The First Strike sight looks very similar to the Northern Competition sight on my AR.  You can find it here:

They have various sizes of screw-in apertures for the hood.  My rifle came from the builder with this sight and a .038 inch aperture which was a little too dark for my 42 year-old eyes on a cloudy day (although, I have heard that some of the USAMU team use .036 apertures  :o) so I ordered three additional larger sizes and have been using a .045 inch one recently.  I gave a .047 inch one to my buddy, Rick, who's fifty and he likes it pretty well.

It works well for me on an AR, but I don't know if the threads are the same and would work for your application.  However, the specs put out by the rifle builder claim that there is a company making screw-in lenses to fit it.  I don't know who, but could probably find out, if need be.
"Unhappy it is, though, to reflect that a brother's sword has been sheathed in a brother's breast and that the once-happy and peaceful plains of America are either to be drenched with blood or inhabited by a race of slaves.  Sad alternative!  But can a virtuous man hesitate in his choice?" - George Washington - from a letter to a close friend after the events of April 19, 1775

"There is no nation on earth powerful enough to accomplish our (the United States) overthrow.  Our destruction, should it come at all, will be from another quarter.  From the inattention of the people to the concerns of their government, from their carelessness and negligence, I must confess that I do apprehend some danger.  I fear that they may place too implicit a confidence in their public servants, and fail properly to scrutinize their conduct; that in this way they may be made the dupes of designing men, and become the instruments of their own undoing." - Daniel Webster, June 1, 1837

Not to change the subject too much.
As I understand it you need to have the M1 NM hooded rear sight before you can add the insert. Also are the lower teeth on your sight ground off like they show?
I have the same problem.
Thanks

On my M1 I did not have to grind off the lower part of the aperature as I put a slightly taller front sight on it (had to remove the NM front sight but that's okay).  They do recommend grinding off the bottom part of that aperature, also to make replacing it with a different aperature easier (no need to disassemble the sight, just crank it up till the aperature comes out and then crank the new one back in).  The one I have on my M1 is just unbelievable.  Sharp front sight post and if I change focus to the target it is also in focus (unlike when I wear my reading glasses to make the front sight nice and sharp).

If the AR hoods are smaller in ID than the M1/M14 NM hoods I guess I'll have to contact B Jones and see what the OD of the AR inserts he sells is.

Thanks for the tip.
