The first ever Appleseed shoot at the Holmen Rod and Gun Club started off with a great cool morning, eager shooters and a good group of instructors.

A big thanks goes out to the Holmen Rod and Gun club for hosting us here. The range we shot on was perfect for our needs. Here is a view of the clubhouse from the range we were using.

Six shooters were on the line for the first RedCoat of the weekend. Half were repeat seeders and half new shooters. All showed a willingness to learn and they picked up the instruction quickly.
The instructors were Alex, Whisker, Kosciusko, BuzzG. and CIVLAKFLT picking up all the loose ends as Applecore volunteers do so well.

After lunch in the shade and some history on the First Strike of the Match, we were back on the line polishing shooting positions and working on the six steps. The afternoon went by quickly and after one AQT target all had enough for one day.

Sunday morning started with 4 shooters on the line. CIVLAKFLT brought her gear along this morning and was able to catch some trigger time today. Both Alex and Whisker were able to sneak in some AQT practice today also.

We had several shooters that were so close to breaking the 210 level and they left with plans to come back in the future.

Jon was able to pull everything together on Sunday and brought back a 230! Nice shooting! Later in the afternoon, Jon agreed to take an Orange Hat and continue his rifleman journey as an IIT.  Thank you for making the commitment to grab a bucket and bail.

I hope we get more shoots lined up at this range. The facility works well and it is a very active club.

Diane has some pictures of the shoot that she will add on to this report.

Thanks again to the club and all the shooters. Because of you, we all keep bailing.

Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'Press On' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

It was a great event this weekend. We had another excellent group of students, and once the clouds went away it was a warm sunny day, perfect for Appleseeding. Buzz did an awesome job running the shoot, and definitely earned the new Green Hat I gave him on Sunday afternoon. I look forward to seeing the pictures that Diane took this weekend. She was a great help. Kyle and Kevin were professional and a pleasure to work with as always. It was nice of Jon to pick  up an Orange Hat. I know that the Minnesota Instructor Corps will get him moving up the ranks in no time.

congrats ^:)^ you do a great job!!!
Holmen, WI   look's like a very nice place
and shooters keep on practicing :~ :~

It's a very nice range and could accommodate a lot more shooters.  We also have the potential for a 250 yard KD option.

I'm going to a board meeting on the 13th and ask for another shoot date.  Anybody got any preferences ?

Thanks, Mr. K. Thanks for the use of the rifles.

Congrats, Buzz on your Green hat!! You're a great teacher! I appreciate all of you taking the time to come to Wisconsin and it was great to meet Alex and Whisker.  We had a really nice group and the individual attention was a great benefit. Congrats to Jon on earning his Rifleman patch and for taking on the challenge of the Orange hat.
